Yeah I worded that wrong.
How a word is used in culture *does* define it, even if that deviates from its original meaning and used by those who don't know it. Ex. Bugs Bunny sarcastically calling Elmur Fudd "Nimrod" leading to it meaning "idiot" when Nimrod is a biblical hunter.
