Yes! A helpful lesson for me was to use funnelinf() from the metaviz package. It generates 9 funnel plots, only one of them with your actual data. You have to find yours. Fun, and not as easy as it sounds.

Yes, that's likely. However, I've always found the US to be progressive in terms of bias awareness (e.g., in reviewing job applications), and I hope this proves to be a deposit against regressive AI usage. But maybe I'm just trying to be optimistic to balance out my doomscrolling.

That's why I'm grateful for the EU AI Act. It explicitly addresses dangerous 'ideas' like this with a risk-based system. Anything that has a direct impact on people's lives, such as access to education, grants or justice, is either banned or subject to high hurdles.
