Almost all of my friends are in grad school (chem, med, dentistry, pharm, etc.) so the FOMO is a little tooooooooooooo real 🫠

I get what ya mean. For me, I rationalized it down to the fact that I can still make meaningful progress in my life without having to worry about the horrors of academia. Though I still ponder on it being the “wrong choice” as well, but I know I won’t regret prioritizing myself over science.

I’ve decided to take a bit of a longer break from academia and I feel you. Don’t let anybody make you feel weird about taking time off! Your own health matters so much more than doing science.

This was me when I did my internship at Merck. I always thought I was bound for academia but this was a major wake up call. Great environment, colleagues, and science — what more could one want?
