We should be allowed the same tools to defend ourselves as the opposition has. Freedom isn’t given, it’s taken.

I don’t pull my info out of nowhere. The Times of Israel and the NYT both have done reporting on this. I’m not gonna continue going back and forth. We disagree. End of story.

*Palestinians in Gaza
Those who live in the West Bank have had no recourse against illegal Israeli settlers coming in and claiming their land for their own. They have no way of defending themselves. Especially since IDF protects the settlers- even when they use violence against Palestinians.

If the Palestinians were allowed to hold regular elections instead of being sniped by IDF soldiers like 16 year olds upping their kill count on CoD, Hamas wouldn’t be in the position they’re in now and 10/7 wouldn’t have happened.

Damn it. This point is so asinine I have to respond. If the Oslo Accords were successful, if Yitzhak Rabin hadn’t been assasinated and Hamas hadn’t been propped up by Netanyahu, this wouldn’t be an issue.

Fine. We’re talking in circles. Good day.

Also, only one side has met the criteria for genocide here. I feel like we can agree on Hamas using acts of terrorism against Israel. But according to international law, agreed upon in 1951, only one side of this conflict has committed genocide. They are the wrong party here.

But you are defending one side. I can admit that I’m firmly on the side of the oppressed. This isn’t a both sides situation. Only one side of this conflict has violently put down any attempts at electing better representation. The overwhelming majority of violence skews one way here.

The Israelis are the colonizers here. They came to land that was promised to the Palestinians- backed by the UK and US- and seized more land than was negotiated. They immediately took the position of aggressors against people who had no issue with them. Israel’s actions led to this.

You can try and defend Israel’s actions however you want. It doesn’t excuse apartheid and genocide. It doesn’t erase the fact that they have done their level best to terrorize and destroy the Palestinian population so they can have the entire region for themselves.

So what was the bombing of the AP building? What do you call the targeting of doctors and aid workers in Gaza? Pre and post 10/7?

And illustrating how they use the threat of insurgents to brainwash their people into normalizing of supremacist violence against Palestinians.

Just presenting a history of Israeli violence and apartheid action against Palestinians.

How about the murder of Shireen Abu Akleh, a Palestinian American journalist who was in Gaza for Al Jazeera? And, the targeting of pallbearers at her funeral? The raiding of her home after they killed her?

So, attacking and illegally seizing property from Palestinians in the West Bank- where Hamas has no power, is all part of defending themselves against Hamas? Pre 10/7, IDF soldiers would arbitrarily arrest Palestinians and keep them in deplorable conditions without cause. Is that reasonable?

Also, I’m not supporting the Iranian regime. I’m just against coddling Israel’s warhawk impulses. They’re emboldened because the US backs them. They’re destroying Palestinians, across the region, for existing. That makes them no better than Iran.

You’re right. A little research does go along way. That’s how I know the current (not historical) hostilities were started by Israel. And by current, I mean Friday.

Seriously, though, Israel launched the first missile in this current conflict. There was no provocation. Just the thin excuse of Iran maybe prepping nukes to launch soonish. Funny how constant war helps Bibi stay in power and not face consequences for his war crimes in Gaza.

Oh right. I forgot Iran just goes after Israel for no reason. Israel just minds its business and never makes up reasons to attack its neighbors. You’re so right. Israel is always “just defending itself.”
comment in response to

Who told you that? Bibi? I don’t agree with the Iranian regime but I do believe Iran has a right to defend itself against aggressors. There’s civilian men, women, and children in Iran who didn’t ask for any of this. Iran didn’t launch the first missile here.

We’re not siding with the regime. We’re against the violent actions of Israel. How is it they throw the first missile, unprovoked, and cry “Stop picking on me 😭” when Iran defends itself? How does anyone think that’s a good thing?

Except this wasn’t an opinion piece on what they did. It was tracking their actual court cases.

Here’s an article tracking cases at the time. They all got their day in court.
