I'm dumb. I can't figure out how to end world hunger. But I do promise that I will continue to change healthcare in this country and make it more affordable, possibly setting a path towards Universal Healthcare.

Wow. This is a very big deal. We’ll see if it sticks, but I’m sure @marcelias.bsky.social is ready with a contempt motion if necessary.

BREAKING — States attorneys general lead by @newyorkstateag.bsky.social were just granted a preliminary injunction in their case against DOGE. The team cannot access Treasury Department payment systems or data while the lawsuit proceeds. Major.

We lost someone in my extended family to pancreatic cancer three weeks ago. She was my age. This could be miraculous if only the funding is there and the lunatics on top don’t get in the way.

🏴 Day 32! Next 50501 protest is March 4! That goes double if you are in DC! :3

Important thread.

Mark my words—He is going to try to shut down mail-in voting. When he does, we will sue and we will win. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

I am the great-grandson of a man who led his family out of the shtetl to a strange land in search of a better life. I am the grandson of the three-year-old boy on that journey. As you know, my name is Marc, but my Hebrew name is Elhanan—after the warrior in David’s army who slew a powerful giant.

Democrats need to stop being embarrassed about their beliefs. We need to stand up for immigrants, for the trans community, against wealth inequality. When we try to move right to “compromise” we only pull the Overton window right with us. That’s what has gotten us here.

I have followed Sara Nelson for years and she is an absolute force to be reckoned with. This is but one example of her ferocity, and as usual she is right.

Some good news to end your day.

I will use every tool at my disposal to protect this country from Trump. I will litigate to defend voting rights until there are no cases left to bring. I will speak out against authoritarianism until my last breath. I will not back down. I will not bow or scrape. I will never obey.

“the United States is not a startup. The federal government exists to do all of the things that are definitionally not profitable, that serve the public good rather than protect investor profits. (The vast majority of startups also fail, something the United States cannot afford to do.)”

Exactly right

Elon Musk recently posted on his site that another lawyer and I are “undermining civilization.” He goes on to ask if we suffered childhood trauma and concludes by suggesting we are suffering from “generational trauma.” This is my response. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/my-o...

I have long believed that not enough has been written about how GOP members have felt physically intimidated by Trump supporters. It doesn’t excuse their cowardice, but it still deserves more attention.

TONIGHT: Sen. @whitehouse.senate.gov joins @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com on The Last Word. Tune in!

Rachel is going in tonight on the Republican electeds who are potentially able to push back against this fiasco, including some who seem to be finding a backbone— they’re not big names on cable news but are on the Hill. (Before you pooh-pooh it, give it a watch. I’m surprised and I see her point.)

It appears that “administration officials are paying lip service to complying with the letter of the court orders while violating their spirit.” The impoundment machinations are elaborate, but courts should be able to see through them. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/19/u...

Take note of the messaging - this is both accurate and *deeply* unpopular. It's the kind of thing that forces GOP House members to quietly tell their constituents that they too are concerned about Musk. Make them own this. Make them squirm.

Majority Republican panel affirms nationwide block on Trump’s birthright citizenship EO. Next stop: SCOTUS. But this is very very good.

Correct. He’s not capable of playing multidimensional chess. Or chess. Or checkers. Or tic-tac-toe. As one of his aides put it during Shit Show I, “he’s just eating the pieces” on the board. Nothing he does is strategic. He’s purely guided by narcissistic, sociopathic impulses at all times.

Our coup got coupier. Our authoritarianism got more authoritarian. And of course this is stupidity as a battering ram against what is legal and constitutional, because they weaponize stupidity.

A democracy isn't just about the will of one elected leader being implemented—it’s about a system where power is distributed, checks and balances exist, and different branches of government (executive, legislative, and judicial) have roles in decision-making.

Tomorrow (Wednesday), I’ll be on The View! Tune it at 11am EST to see what we are discussing!

NEW: In a victory for voters, the Wisconsin Supreme Court dismisses a lawsuit from a right-wing group seeking to limit early absentee voting sites. Cities can continue use in-person early absentee locations and mobile voting vehicles.

“If the Administration spurns court orders, what happens next will conceivably determine the fate of democracy and the rule of law in our time.” www.newyorker.com/podcast/the-...

💯 agree.

This Michael Steele explosion was worth scraping off of X and posting here: x.com/MikeSington/...
