I think this is absolutely right; and in a way Trump is a symptom as much as a cause of the USA decline. (I feel the same about Britain and Johnson/Brexit)

Presumably if America survives the next years, the US Constitution will need to be repaired and updated. This is possibly what the Democrats should rebuild themselves around, and would be a good thing

I hope it is a short term tactic to pull the carpet from under Farage. In the medium term I hope Starmer will pivot to raising money by taxing those who can afford it or by simply creating capability by the MMT route.
