I love a niche voting venue. I grew up in rural Suffolk and our closest was a little battered lean-to that you’d have sworn had cows in it a few minutes ago.

I spoke to some international human rights lawyers at the weekend and found it clarifying. Here’s my notes - they agree with what you’re saying - organisations can still be trans-inclusive. docs.google.com/document/d/e...

Such a good example of how patriarchy hurts men too, and all those non-gender dimensions of identity that make us less safe (age, cis/trans status, race etc) add to this. Does anyone know a good term that combines these aspects i.e. white, cis, rich, able-bodied, straight patriarchy?

I want to be a patron. I want to help artists produce wonderful things. I want a quiet house in the countryside where they can find inspiration. I want to use the word ‘patronise’ in everyday conversation and confuse everyone.

my stay wasn’t perfect, but the staff are doing genius work with far too few resources. And of course, at zero cost to me at point of use. The NHS is one of the few things that make me genuinely proud to be British. 2/2 #nhs #addenbrookes

Is it true that once a model has been trained on a dataset, if it’s later ruled that some of that data shouldn’t be used it’s difficult / impossible to action that? There’s a ping in my brain that this was an issue in GDPR legislation. If so, not having a meaningful rollback option has consequences

I’ve come away from that with a vague sense that Owen is actually advocating for descriptivism with a side plate of ‘oh aren’t I charmingly eccentric!’

The key takeaway here needs to be that compressed hours have related issues, NOT that the 4-day working week has related issues. Studies show that the results are positive for productivity and wellbeing for reduced hours, but not for compressed hours

Maybe with a side-order of ‘I can’t be racist / sexist / homophobic, I voted for the last one that came along!’ Like ally credentials don’t need constant renewal

There’s a concept, ‘chunking’, where to achieve spoken fluency we build utterances by piecing together word groups rather than at individual word level - so grammar to some extent has to be automatised within those chunks

I’m the same - it’s been 15 years since I saw it and I’ve been thinking about revisiting, but I’m not sure I’m up for another round of bafflement. I’m still a bit careful walking around dumpsters, though.

That’s something it never occurred to me to do and it’s so pleasing!
