At some point alot of people in the news decided that every American political event happens in a dimension absent of any question of morality and can only be spoken about in terms of who scored a “political touchdown” and not 150,000 additional children going hungry because that’s “fair”

if i saw this in a piece of art foreshadowing one character being controlled by another i would roll my eyes and call it heavy-handed

Remember when the WH insisted that global HIV prevention & treatment was exempt from the freeze? When it seemed MAYBE they understood that cutting off medicine could put the entire planet at risk of drug resistant HIV strains? Wrong. Elon Musk’s interns were simply shutting payments off manually.

Trump take coffee

NEWS: In USDA, multiple people have been asked to report the names of LGBTQ employee resource group leaders to higher-ranking officials, according to interviews with workers and a document reviewed by Mother Jones. + similar in the Department of the Interior

It should be hard to be simultaneously evil and comically stupid in equal measure, but here we are.

Honestly it's surreal watching an insane sleep-deprived drug addict taking over the federal government just by trying random shit and having it mostly work out for him (so far)

Yes, it is entirely correct to point out that ICE officers do not have any legal authority to break into somebody’s home unless they get a judicial warrant; which they generally cannot do, because judges only issue warrants for probable cause of crimes, not immigration law violations.

Trump pardoned the sentence of arguably the single biggest drug trafficker in American history on his second day in office!

DOGE is just greping for keywords, someone's gotta teach these guys to just hide zero-width spaces in the middle of certain strings if they're worried about being sniffed out

I remember in 2020 being astounded when Trump fielded a press question about QAnon. This internet cult is so widespread it’s being MENTIONED in the White House. It’s getting WAY out of hand! Now a regular guest on QAnon podcasts is the FBI director. www.nbcnews.com/politics/jus...

the whole 2020-2024 era of “dems shouldnt aggressively use the levers of power bc then republicans will do the same thing when theyre elected” sure looks dumb as dog shit right now huh

This opposition tells you a lot about how often airlines destroy wheelchairs.

This is incredibly smart by @ryanhatesthis.bsky.social, a lesson Democrats have to learn fast. There will be no a-ha moment for the electorate. You can't wait around for people to realize how bad it is if they'll invariably wind up blaming the Reverse Vampires. You just have to fight, right now.

Jesus christ, was I giving him ideas?

A sign that the Trump admin is taking your egg price concerns very seriously www.nbcnews.com/politics/dog...

“There are currently four people remaining over there to do the work of 15 people. The danger to the national airspace can’t be understated." "This is a very real threat to the American flying public.” EXCLUSIVE ⤵️

NEW: NSF confirmed that they fired 168 employees today, out of their staff of ~1,500 feds. This includes some people who'd finished their 1-year probationary periods, which were extended to 2-years last month without explanation. More to come.

I hope people understand what we are seeing here. 1) Trump and Putin are preparing a common plan to dictate to Ukraine. 2) Ukraine will surprise them (at least Trump) by refusing. 3) The War will continue. 4) The role of Europe will be decisive.

The top criminal prosecutor in the U.S. attorney's office in Washington quit today, citing pressure by the Trump administration to open what she viewed as an improper criminal probe of a federal contract. ca.news.yahoo.com/senior-u-pro...

"You cannot A-B test what happens when you dissolve USAID. Maybe you save a lot of money for two years or five years or twenty years, and the decision looks efficient. But then a crisis erupts." "Efficiency" does not straightforwardly apply to government.

It’s really wild how much of the MOST disturbing stuff said by Trump appointees and DOGE mercenaries is from recent months. It’s not like these guys were saying weird things years and years ago. Their most disturbing views ARE THEIR CURRENT VIEWS.

Republicans in 2013: The integrity of the IRS is the biggest scandal in the country!! Republicans in 2025: Sure, it's okay to hand over private, personal taxpayer information to barely supervised DOGEbros who definitely, positively won't do annnnything wrong with it, we swear.

These fucking losers really are exactly who we all think they are

Why is this dimwitted drunk sex pest I hired for a key position making mistakes

and another thing: im not mad. please dont put it at the top of every CDC, HHS, and FDA website that i got mad.

Lmao just the best people

NEW: At least three more DOJ Public Integrity Unit senior officials have resigned after meeting with Emil Bove on the Eric Adams case. Five in Public Integrity overall. That’s six officials who resigned, triple the number that happened during the Saturday Night Massacre.

Holy shit. This is fucking nuts.

This is absolutely a case where obstruction, even if they don't do the more general total obstruction they should be doing, could make a substantial practical difference, in addition to being perfectly on-point messaging for the situation. But they'd have to do *all* USA nominees, not just SDNY.

Not that anyone cares but a bunch of senior doj officials resigning over a corrupt instruction to drop a case was what triggered the Nixon impeachment, and in the Trump era it's just the 2pm scandal of a random Thursday and every day now has ~3 such scandals that would have ended any prior admin

The outrage over Nixon's "Saturday Night Massacre" came when the top two officials at the DOJ resigned rather than follow his corrupt orders. These posts aren't as prominent, but their resignations should help force more attention on the insanely corrupt bargain between Adams and Trump.

Holy Shit. They're burning through people pretty fast now. After Sassoon refused/resigned, the next two people - heads of Public Integrity Section (DC) and the Criminal Division also refused/resigned. This all JUST happened. And these are all 'actings', so they're people the Trump crew chose.

This is what just happened and its the most fucking insane thing I've ever seen. 1) Article below comes out where the GOP is freaking out about working Friday. 2) Suddenly, MULTIPLE Trump nominees are fast tracked by unanimous consent. Now the Senate is on course to leave Thursday.

Any Democratic senator could object to these agreements and demand that Republicans address the constitutional crisis before they go back to business as usual. Pretty ridiculous dereliction of constitutional duty here.

The Trump admin says ICE has custody of migrants sent to Guantanamo, but it's DOD guards in Camp 6, a war-on-terror prison. It won't say who is being held incommunicado there, but we are publishing a list of 53 men in Camp 6. w/ @carolrosenbergnyt.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/02/12/u...

Everyone who pays alot of attention to politics right now is losing their mind because it’s really difficult to understand how the majority of people are just like “yep living my life, oh a program to hire more women? Idk sounds good to me, I voted Trump to lower inflation hopefully he’s doing that”

This is...not how baseball works?
