My best guess it that it has to do with attorney ethics and bar licenses. If an attorney is ordered (or asked by a client) to do something unethical or illegal, the standard practice is for the attorney to resign. However, they are expected to maintain client confidentiality.

It's challenging, because attorneys are routinely filing documents with courts and appearing before judges. They are expected to perform honestly and competently. A judge could sanction them, they could get disbarred, they may lose the ability to attract the sort of clients they want in the future.
