I wonder if giant megacorps who can afford to purchase access to the president getting tariff exemptions will be good or bad for small businesses 🤔

I'm not much for 100%ing games, don't usually like doing the same thing over and over again, but Roboquest was worth it!

Remember: there's no such thing as more or less government, just more or less centralized government. If someone is privatizing government they aren't removing it, just reorganizing. Pay attention where it goes.

In a shocking turn of events, many of the people who said they wanted "free speech" actually just wanted to be the ones in charge of which speech is free.

You know, that's a really good point. I hadn't thought about the fact that this kind of disruption is easy insider trading and such in addition to just crashing the market so oligarchs can buy buy buy.

@veritasium.bsky.social Watched your new video! I got thinking about the different speed in water vs air... does that have to do with the density and therefore the average length of the path light has to take to get through it?

The argument that it’s time to dump Ukraine because “it’s a losing investment” is not just selfish, it’s psychotic. If your child was diagnosed with cancer, we can only assume you’d just take them out back and put them down, relieved that you don’t have to support that pathetic waste of your money.

@sanders.senate.gov In a system where majority rules and one party is fully under the thumb of a dictator, in a power disparity like this, be honest: How long is there a non-violent option? "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." - JFK

Here's a thought experiment: "profit" is what happens when deals are unbalanced, one party comes out ahead, when something is misvalued. What would a free market system look like where minimizing profit is the goal?

In Healthcare there are no customers, only casualties

You know, when I was in school I recall that it was a big deal that the US constitution delegated the "power of the purse" to Congress, not the president, to prevent exactly these kinds of sudden changes. Is this not just blatantly unconstitutional, and further grounds for declaration of treason?

I saw, to paraphrase: "it's good things (universities, research) are shutting down due to federal funding being withheld. If they aren't profitable, they shouldn't exist. That's how capitalism works." This is such a fundamental misunderstanding of economics, or worse: what makes life worth living.

Watch Zenshu Episode 1 is free on Crunchyroll and the English cast is great so far, you have no excuse. I've only seen ep 1, but it seems to be a love letter to childhood inspiration and art, and potentially the challenge of reconciling them into adult hood. Regardless, it's a beautiful episode ❤️

I feel like one of the most interesting things leading up to the election was the assumption that I must just be listening to propaganda. "My group says your group is doing x, you should listen to more than just your side" It's funny, because the thing that scared me was listening to yours.

I think we can agree government policy needs to change. I understand if that feeling is why you voted the way you did. I hope we can also agree that having a "leader" talking about invading neighbors, showing 0 empathy for natural disasters, and finding new schoolyard insults for everyone is a bfd?

No one has to have done wrong for someone to be hurt in collateral, so Individual responsibility can't fix everything. Society is a coop game and shifting strategies requires some to have less than they did for the engine to run optimally. This isn't a punishment, it's cooperation and progress.

Season 14 was a great recommendation! Made the trip back fly by. I'll definitely put you guys on my regular rotation! Happy Holidays!

@writingexcuses.bsky.social 14.22, Brandon recommends @eyepatchwolf.bsky.social for the same reason I fell in love with his videos. Feels good to see the commonality and overlap <3

A 10 hour drive is a great time to listen to a whole season of @writingexcuses.bsky.social for the first time! Really enjoyed season 11, which one do i listen to on the way back?

Great video (as always!) It did get me thinking: this is a great example of how people who have power can set up situations where they appear more competent in other areas as well. It goes to show how both power and marketing breed more power and authority.

Guys. Guys guys guys. please, for the love of god: The government can't function without the USPS. Saying USPS "loses money" is like saying IT is useless because the budget says it doesn't bring in money, disregarding the money it keeps moving for the rest of the company. ☠️We CANNOT privatize it☠️

Musk is worth 400 billion. The median American makes 40k. The problem isn't whether Musk earned it, it's that a system which requires 10 Million people's power coordinating to equal one. no democratic system can allow such a disparity in power among its people if it wishes to survive

@localthunk.bsky.social playing some Balatro and watching the game awards. No particular reason...

It doesn't look like @hankgreen.bsky.social posted this to repost, but it's a good video and I feel like more people should see it! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fcbt...

I heard Astro Bot described as "the art of providing pure fun", and it has me thinking about the definition of Art again. Art with a capital A is emotional communication, in whatever medium, and the quote on Astro Bot is a great example of someone who found Art made "for" them. Great work, Asobi!

Balatro by @localthunk.bsky.social is an example of just about everything you can do right in game design. Simple concepts, presented clearly and explored thoroughly. An attention to player experience, feedback, and an astonishing level of polish. It continues to be amazing months later. GOTY worthy

The UH CEO situation is a direct result of bad governmental systems. Demand for healthcare is infinite to an individual; this market CANNOT be regulated by supply and demand. Privatized health insurance literally makes life and death enemies of the two sides, and this is the result.
