I’m inclined to agree with you; it reads as a run-on sentence when used a conjunction. That said, the English language is changing so rapidly and is used in a multitude of ways. It’s an impossible task to delve into every aspect of the language and its usage.

This absolutely applies to the professional side of things. But even just the social aspects, there’s mounting pressure to be perfect and flawless. Even making one mistake means people toss you out. And if you so much as vent, everyone else distances themselves from you so quickly!
