Blocked, of course.

I believe this to be true. If I may add something, the historical willingness of religious groups in this country to justify and reinforce racism is appalling.

I’m wondering if I was admiring him or some very good writers.

Don’t care for referring to famous women by their first names. “Hillary” is an exception, distinguishing her from her famous spouse. So Gulf of Harris? Or Gulf of Hillary?

I’m thinking the Navy could train the muscle men to be rescue swimmers. That takes real strength; and, if a few hundred people jump overboard, they can make a great contribution. Not much to do in a submarine.

Because special forces level is just what the Navy needs on a carrier or in a nuclear sub.

US Grant’s experience as a quartermaster was critical to how he understood war and part of why he crushed Confederate armies. Of course that’s why idiots hate him and venerate Lee.

You are right, of course, about the manifesto. I speak only from my personal experience, which shows that people will make great sacrifices to send their children to segregated schools. What neither of us have addressed here is the rapid growth of home schooling.

As I understand it, Tennessee is handling out vouchers for kids to attend private schools. Won’t this cut into the pool for conscription? Correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like Trump is shooting himself in the foot.

Point well taken. It takes all of us to defend democracy

Lived in San Diego, with Black sailors (men and women) as neighbors. Great work ethic. Convinced they will be irreplaceable.

I’m from Middle Tennessee, where everyone knows Bragg was a screwup. Finally relieved of command. Whoever named it Fort Bragg was being snarky. Whoever wants it back is stupid.

I myself am white and privileged, but this takes the cake: “Comey has some regrets…But the decision to re-open the contentious inquiry into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server days before the 2016 election that ushered in Donald Trump, is not one of them.” (National Press Foundation)

They’re not even waiting to see how much veterans’ benefits will be cut?

TPM is a reliable source.

Anyone who disagrees does not have relatives in Tennessee. Don’t tell me about Nashville—the legislature and the governor are running the show, with racists flying Confederate flags and dependably reelecting them.

World leaders dislike him enormously, so there’s that.

Me, too. Followed each other (hint).

Visited some Southern MAGA relatives recently. They don’t *want* to see through him. He signs their permission slips to be racists.

The way I (white) look at it: Had I been a German during WWII, it is to be hoped that I at least secretly hated Nazis. But that wouldn’t mean I was not morally, as well as legally, responsible to make restitution.

I will not so honor the name of the man who gave a states’ rights speech on the ground where three civil rights workers were murdered by the KKK.

I like getting the “magic words” right. My daughter called God the “cosmic butler.”

My cousin claims there is a narrow passage between two large rock formations that would admit a skinny camel. Asked a historian in Jerusalem (sure I already knew) and he said there was no such thing. Also, women don’t need hats in church because Paul actually meant women couldn’t shave their heads.

Sounds like you have omitted some details.

Speaking of a “DEI” ban across *all* industries, I am watching the Eagles and wondering why none of the people who are so concerned about favoritism being shown to Black people are not taking action against professional sports organizations? I double dog dare them to do it.

I left Amazon for Target. Left Target for Costco. If Costco kisses the ring, I will look for a loom and a churn.

It’s what you said, but you left out that the part about Timothy Olyphant being very sexy.

I left years ago. People who say, “It’s just as bad everywhere else” have no idea what they’re talking about.

My own brother watches Fox because “They agree with the way I think.” Other news sources could “pollute” him. Fox found, not created, a market.

Dinah who left X some time ago.

Elderly white woman here, grew up in the South during forced segregation. Lesson learned: we white people can’t imagine what Black people go through—then or now, and the future will be worse.

I just ordered from Costco online. Left Amazon for Target. Walmart is a disaster. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
