🚨 New plesiosaur paper 🚨 After 12 years of work, our paper about Seeleyosaurus was published today. Seeleyosaurus was the first complete plesiosaur found in Germany. The holotype at the NHM Berlin is almost complete, articulated and even has fossilised skin. 1/6 #FossilFriday #Science #Germany

Reconstruction of the pliosaur Lorrainosaurus keileni by @joschuaknuppe.bsky.social. We described Lorrainosaurus in 2023, naming it after Lorraine, France, where it was found. The specimen, curated in Luxembourg, comprises the mandible, teeth, and some postcranial bones. 1/2 #FossilFriday #Science

This is the famous 'Ichthyosaur giving birth' specimen, a Stenopterygius mother found in the Lower Jurassic Posidonia Shale of Holzmaden, Germany. It is one of my favourite ichthyosaurs and curated in the Stuttgart Museum of Natural History, Germany. #paleontology #fossils #science #germany #museum

This photo shows the skeleton of Cricosaurus albersdoerferi, a metriorhynchid crocodylomorph found in a Late Jurassic limestone quarry in Painten, Germany. It is one of the best-preserved fossils of Cricosaurus, even revealing information about the integument. 1/2 #science #paleontology #fossil

🚨 Big plesiosaur news 🚨 Our paper is out. We describe pigment cells and scales in a Jurassic plesiosaur. Small scales are found at the limbs which enforced them. Body and tail are scale-less. Many thanks to lead-author Miguel Marx & the team. www.cell.com/current-biol... #Science #News #Nature 1/3
