Oh no. Good catch. Here it is: www.npr.org/2024/09/10/n...

Tell that to the thousands of disabled people who still use it to connect with community because other options aren’t as accessible…

I’m not sure what you mean? Twitter is still going with a massive disabled community presence there: many of us stayed, largely due to the inaccessibility of platforms like this one

This is not the same at all. People have spent a decade or more building community on twitter, ice cream is a food item that one can easily go without. And your statement is ableist/sanist

Yikes. Crappy realization. Did you feel like Solace was helpful?? Worth it?

Did you know the ADA doesn’t even require a physician to sign off on accommodation requests? Companies just choose to require it because they can, they don’t believe their employees, and they want to create additional barriers for disabled workers.

This is great news for accessibility!
Now we just need to work on making delivery more accessible financially and ensuring delivery drivers get fair compensation 🫠

Oh yay! You too! I’m not great at using it yet 😅

Trump? I freaking hope not. Disability tax is just a phenomenon that happens as a consequence of having a disability in an ableist society. Things are more expensive for us, take us more time and energy, stuff is harder to access, etc.. it ends up costing us more too.

Chaos is a tool meant to exhaust and distract us. Don’t let it drown out progress. Don’t let it drown out the good work being done.

Right now, I see so many people doing the work—advocating, resisting, building something better—despite the turmoil.

(Note that this did not, in fact, happen and is impossible and that physicians need to stop giving this absolutely worthless, unwanted, and unhelpful advice)

Go for it :)

Also no worries if not. I wish you luck with it either way! Sounds like a neat project

Oooh! Interesting. So you’re trying to see if there’s an sig diff b/w groups in prevalence of X but need to figure out how to define groups? Tricky. I’d be happy to help out if I can. I’ve designed & run multiple RCTs & worked with many datasets. But would need you to sign NDA about my identity 😅

Yeah it’s not a great control. It’s not even comparable to treatment as usual or waitlist control. What is the research question here? can I ask?
comment in response to
post
Is it a large dataset anyone can draw from? Because in that case it is not a true controlled study in the first place. Might be part of the confusion. In a true controlled study there would be exclusion criteria that would extend beyond just similar conditions. RCT samples are unique 😅

Oooh! Yeah sounds like they weren’t true healthy controls they were just disease or diagnosis negative controls. But they should have controlled for more than that at least, like meds or related conditions I’d think? 😅
comment in response to

Do you mean in an existing dataset? They should have a column indicating they are controls. Typically a binary variable but not always. If you explain more though I might be able to help

I don’t recognize most :(
But I also have a hard time with names. I mostly remember pictures and then names but people seem to have changed their pictures on here (or on both just before leaving)

Yay! Glad some of us are here but it is unfortunately seeming sparse. I keep hearing this app isn’t as accessible and I personally find it harder to use. But trying to ensure I have a back up if Twitter becomes unusable

Probably for the same reason I often see you use ableist language in your posts…

Their service actually came in handy when my spouse left his lifesaving medication at home when we were on a trip out of state… we were grateful it existed in that moment. The potential for them to integrate appointments w/prescriptions by mail w/o a 3rd party? It’s just more accessible… :/
