I won't put it past trump to act in spite of the 14th amendment, but I do think there is a huge difference between repealing the 14th, and committing to actions with it still there.

I didn't vote for him😥

I mean tulsi is the worst one because while kash might be itching to go full gestapo, tulsi will basically make america blind for the next 4 years in terms of intel and that's a recipe for disaster, unless trump really intends to join brics and leave nato.

Elon is the worlds richest mid life crisis. He and trump WILL have a falling out at somepoint. I've seen enough reality TV to see where that goes, with the reality tv president. Its either gonna be with the first 3 months or at midterms as a scape goat for all that went wrong.

Your more than 100% right. How? I read your comment and facepalmed in agreeance.

I think the hint of truth in the populism argument is that the Democrats need to get closer to the people. But the solution to that is partyism, not populism. There need to be party third spaces like sports clubs and mutual aid networks. Creating a shared identity matters in this age of loneliness.

I was worried for a split sec. I thought you were talking about brian tyler cohen

Ben Franklin sums up this situation for me. “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” I would only add, nor Respect.

I asked econboi a similar question during his ama, and he told me to support local effective dems, if your local dems aren't effective and you don't think you can change that, then you should look for the nearest ones. I wish i had more for you, but it sounds like were on the same step
comment in response to post
There are many things, but a good first step would be getting a library card, and seeing what your local community is like. If you can, join up with your local dems and help them out.

3/ most Democrats are enthused just to see one of their leaders say fuck off to a set of DC refs and rules that very evidently only apply to them.

The "media" isn't scared of trump. Journalist are scared of trump. Media organizations like cnn couldn't care less and will report on whatever gets the most ratings. Like they have and continue to do so.

The president should have some kind of pardoning power, but as it currently stands, it should be reformed to not be so abusable. I personally don't think hunter should be pardoned, but given the nature of reality right now, i give my full endorsement. (3/3)
comment in response to post
People also don't like the power to pardon in general because even before trump it was used in wack ways. so the idea this sets a precedent is just a virtue signal from idiots who have no concept of memory. trump was always going to pardon the J6'rs no matter what. (2/3)
comment in response to post
what makes this different is that biden said he wasn't going to pardon his son. he went back on his own word. other than that, not much, hunter is guilty, convincingly so. but his case was perverted by the justice system because biden WAS president his sentencing was harsher than normal (1/?)

I should say im glad to hear that unironically.

I hear a lot of frustration about certain shows "platforming" people. Remember, you're not obligated to watch or listen if you don't want to! It's also worth hearing other opinions and figuring out how to improve. We're not perfect, we don't have all the answers, and we should be open to listening.
comment in response to post
Okay, then can i ask for some clairfyication on what you are saying? Because on the matter of the podcast were using different definitions of glazefest, on the matter of polarization, you asked me to explain on what your saying is an obvious question.
comment in response to post
If you have a conclusion you want to say, just say it. There is no one factor that has caused the polarization in america. There are multiple and we can go around for hours on it. We could go to the creation of fox, the repeal of the fairness doctrine, the vietnam war, wwii, reconstruction. Etc.
comment in response to post
I think we have different definitions of glazefest then. People don't like centrist anymore because both the left and right of the country have been polarized so much that people saying their centrist sounds less like someone considering all options, and more their shy liberals/conservatives. Liars

Making a 3rd party will only split the existing coalition we have, and it will strengthen maga republicans further by already doing the dividing of divide and conquer. Im all for election reform, but we need butts in congress, and overwhelmingly so, to get there. And a president too. (2/2)
comment in response to post
Alot of people want to look great in a pair of skinny jeans, very few want to diet and exercise for months on end to pull it off. BTC's post is that mentality. Alot of people are unsatisfied with the current dem party, but we have to get to the point where we have the leverage to change that. (1/2)
comment in response to post
I've seen alot of hate towards both hasan and destiny towards them platoforming or being platformed. I don't like hasan, but like from the interview, it wasn't a glaze fest, shoulsn't we be encourging that?
comment in response to post
yes. I want the government to be all sock puppets. thank you for understanding.

I wish republicans and republican politians weren't rotten to the core with maga. I'd like a system where if my side loses it doesn't feel like the country will explode.
