I love how he jumps out of the car and ends up rolling right back in again. Cracks me up every single time.

I've been noticing more Horsa content here and on Twitter the last 6 months, and I love it. Also, am I alone in thinking the Horsa is actually a really lovely-looking machine??

Imagine: companies thinking of relocating to Canada from the US. Perhaps a rare win for 🇨🇦 in all this tariffs nonsense. Trump has to be considered the worst loose cannon of a President, ever.

We had one awesome day last week but winter keeps us in its icy grip. When will it end??

I recall when this came out on TV it was ripped to shreds.

Just horrible. Those young men showed such bravery every time they went up in the air.

So many good ciders from BC that we don't get here in Ontario. I was stunned how many there were the last time I went out there.

Which one of them comes back with a piece of paper, claiming "Peace for our time!"??

I keep bouncing back and forth between the two platforms, like an addict trying to wean oneself off of bad substances. I don't think I'm the only one, but there are days I ask myself "Why do I keep going there??"

People need to be vigilant to ensure their govt doesn't allow American-style health "care" to creep in. We face that issue in Canada as well. I'm glad your experience ended well and that it didn't bankrupt you and your family.

As a "Reggie" I approve of this post.

A Merry Christmas from Toronto to you, Matt. Look after yourself - we can wait for the podcast, which I'm sure will be stellar as always.

Merry Christmas to you Carla-Jean - blessings from Ontario. Here's to a happy and healthy holiday season for you and yours.

I'm always struck at how "ordinary" the soldiers look. We're so conditioned now thru film and TV to think of fighting men as if they all look like pro athletes. But they were, for the most part, just everyday people who left everyday occupations to go and do extraordinary things.

Mark, you're looking more like Alec Guinness every year. And that's not a bad thing.

People need to remember that the Person of the Year is not an endorsement. It really should be termed the "Consequential Person of the Year" or similar. Further, the rage about this just feeds the ego of the Orange Menace. Why give him that satisfaction? Who cares about this anymore?

Home of 40-foot Fred!

That's what I was thinking, too. Not "Conflict of interest" per se, but possibly a disqualification? Of course, a donation to the Canucks Foundation or other charity would smooth things over if that was the case.

I'm just griping. The Luongo salary cap recapture still looms large.

Just watch: the league will penalize the Canucks for manipulating cap space.

Good luck in having to deal with Quebec. I'd almost pay to watch that.

If you're looking to buy a cut tree, you might not find one on December 14, or you're likely to pay through the nose for one. We buy a cut one every year and really enjoy the scent it gives off throughout the house. But $$ every year.

That's the Canadian in her, I suspect. 🇨🇦

You're probably right. After I posted, I realized these men were likely still in uniform, not demobbed ex-soldiers firing these off for a lark.

I used to live in Victoria. Back then, the city had one (1!) snowplow. You can imagine how people there drove anytime snow started falling. Not overconfidence, but maybe blissful denial LOL

Excellent. Yeah, a tractor makes even more sense. Good luck - hope you are all stocked up with provisions!

It is. Over here on Bluesky, the feed doesn't disappear for weeks or months as it did on the other place. It can be a bit numbing, but the individual stories bring home the tragedy and horror.

These are really quite interesting, Matt. They look almost home-made, given the rather rough inscriptions. I imagine these competitions were "one-offs"- meant to bring recent veterans together? A sort of post-war group therapy, in a way? Any mention of these competitions in local news?

While I agree about its utility, it does look like it was designed by committee. Pretty cool nonetheless.

What a magnificent restoration. I nearly wept when the fire occurred. For any North American readers, PBS' NOVA did a great episode on efforts to restore Notre Dame. The stained glass in particular stood out to me.

Fantastic detail. It puts me to shame, I can barely finish Lego.

I was driving through that region last weekend - really lovely. This time of year though, I think it's a "trucks-only" area. I hope you have a good snowblower!!

OMG, that's the Mackie House, isn't it?? I catalogued and photographed everything in that house for Paddy Mackie back in 1997 when I was doing my MAS at UBC. Take care of the old place, will you? 😉

What makes this even better is the perfect sky as a backdrop. What a sight to behold.

You get a better sense of the amount of cartridges expelled during firing, when it's done at ground level. And that's just a short burst.

You, and millions more tonight. I switched to my laptop, logged into Netflix from there & then hooked it up to the TV. Worked like a charm in time to catch the last half of the womens fight (best bout of the evening IMO). Tyson-Paul fight was a bit of a dud, really. Tyson looked all of his 58 years.
