To execute is to "carry out or put into effect (a plan, order, or course of action)." The mission of the executive branch is to execute legislation, the plans, orders, and courses of action that come from Congress. The President must "he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed,"

Jack Smith is folding up his operation. Probably has no choice, but this is a bad outcome for the United States. Not only does Trump escape consequences, but some pretty sketchy decisions won't be tested and over-ruled. The most obvious is Judge Canon's absurd dismissal of the documents case.
