Yeah, game consoles are inherently a very Millennial thing, simply due to the limitations of technology at the time. You needed an inexpensive box to play videogames, so they made that box. Both generations before and after play their games on a computer or device that does everything else too.

I’ve never heard Super Circuit referred to as the worst Mario Kart. It’s better than the SNES game for sure.

I always thought the custom themes were the “killer app” for Tumblr that differentiated it from competitors. It is sad they keep trying to erase that.

Yeah, the best Mario Kart, the best Giantbomb, the best SNL, the best game system, the best songs, it’s all from a specific time in someone’s life (usually 14).

There was the illusion of "keeping up with the news" in these sites because of rapid updates and posts that had to condense nuance due to the character limit, but it was never good or accurate.

Although I use Firefox as my personal browser, they don't seem to have done anything in the past 15 years to attract any new users. The number of people connecting to the internet has exploded exponentially since its inception, but Firefox's userbase seems to have only gotten smaller.

Basically, by mocking games media for simply *the perception* of being biased, we ended up making a world where those covering games *have* to be biased to survive. The honest games journalists get laid off, while shills with sponsor deals make more money than any honest journalist could ever dream.

To be clear, once you go independent, you will be more at the whims of corporations to sponsor your work, which comes with stronger red tape and limitations on what you can say. Those employed by institutions that have separate business and editorial arms *protect* journalists from those conflicts.

It's this type of misguided thinking that others would use to justify attacking games journalists for perceived faults made by their employer, and ones that ultimately led to the games audience preferring independent personalities over "corporate" media, believing them to be more trustworthy.

Probably my favorite roast he has said in his show so far.

Yeah. With so many writers out there, I think the goal is no longer to have a big audience, but to have a small one just for you.
