Be nice if one had been colour ringed to know for sure.

Yes, I think they made a brief excursion downriver before heading back here. I haven't seen them for a week now so they may have departed.

Same here Simon. I tried a couple of hours moth trapping on a local farm this evening and saw 5 Smooth Newts and 1 Great Crested Newt heading towards an adjacent pond.

Yes, electric or brushwood fences are the same. Without maintenance, the deer will be straight in. I'm glad it's not me that has to try and remove some of those panels.

Hello Martin. Thanks so much for that. It's really helpful. When I tell landowners they have, say, Plumed Prominent in their woods and it's Nationally Scarce and only occurs fewer than 100 hectads, the obvious question I get asked is 'out of how many?' The answer has been surprisingly hard to find.

Amazingly, I still need a Firecrest for the parish. Would be nice to get one this year. 🙂

I agree Mark. Quite unexpected, but very nice to see.

That's interesting Mark. Thank you. It would certainly be a decent count on the coast, so it's definitely a very good total for West Suffolk. 👍

Hi Mark. I think I have it in an email so will check and let you know. Just shows the difference a good food source makes. 👍

Oh dear. That doesn't sound good Richard. I'm even more glad this one survived now.
