I’m also saying there are big holes in that study so I’m skeptical of the results or what the data is actually saying. I’d be willing to bet that daily use among teens in certain populations has gone up significantly. Also the increased potency is problematic. So yes, I regret it.

Interesting. some some huge holes in this study and it’s also based on self reporting, which they point out leads to some skepticism. Demographics would be great. A decade after legal pot shops opened, teen marijuana use is going down in Colorado | The Colorado Sun coloradosun.com/2024/06/26/y...

Show me a study that shows the benefits of full cannabis legalization on teenagers is the US? If you think that the average age of first use has gone up in the US, you’re crazy. The US and our form of capitalism is a different world. I voted to legalize in Colorado 13 years ago and I regret it.

Honestly curious where you’re from? Do you currently live in an area where cannabis has been completely legalized?
comment in response to post
Remember when I said that I’m in favor of decriminalization versus full legalization?

Where are you from? The product landscape has completely changed since, and because of, legalization. Buying a dime bag from your buddy is totally different than vapes, edibles, dabs, oils etc.

Yes, in theory regulation would make access harder, but if you’ve spent any time around HS kids you’d know that they have easy access to product and the social acceptance of near constant use of THC products has been bad for kids.
comment in response to post
Being an asshole is not an effective argument strategy. Are you honestly suggesting that kids today don’t have more access to more potent products than they did prior to legalization? And you think 15 year olds spend a lot of time reading labels?
comment in response to post
Are you suggesting that products haven’t become more potent since legalization? Also, are you suggesting that kids had the same access to the assortment of products they do now prior to legalization?
comment in response to post
I teach high school and I think the relatively easy access to incredibly potent products has been terrible for kids.
comment in response to post
No other impact? How about kids now having access to cheap and ridiculously potent products?

WTF is a liberal leaning agency in the federal government? Aren’t they all just agencies trying to fulfill a mission?

Decriminalize - Yes Legalize - NO! I don’t think legalization has gone well in the US

These numbers are from February. How can that be attributed to student loan payments, which didn’t go back into effect until May?

In his recent discussion with Ezra Klein, I think Tapper fails miserably at resolving this. If his staff truly believed he could do it, then there is no deliberate cover up, just self delusion. Tapper came of as having agenda

DPS shows their love and appreciation for their teachers by not engaging in good faith negotiations and then walking away from the table altogether. I’m really not sure what their end game is but we’re going to lose good teachers in the process, regardless of whether we reach an agreement.

I think the suggestion that less engaged voters are ignorant or inherently intolerant is problematic. Hard to imagine why we’re having such a hard time getting our message across and connecting with voters.

Honest question: If you were to ask an average, low information voter if they have a positive or negative impressions of the term woke, what do you think they would say?
comment in response to post
That's a good point, but I still don't think that's what Slotkin is saying.
comment in response to post
Also where is are you seeing anything that she is saying that we shouldn't stand up up for what we believe or that we should abandon progressive policies. She's is saying that we're losing the messaging battle and we need to reframe our message to be more appealing to voters. Do you disagree?
comment in response to post
Are we winning right now?
comment in response to post
I know what woke means. She’s not implying that supporting equal right is bad. She’s acknowledging that we’re losing the war of messaging and it’s hard to argue with that, right?
comment in response to post
Why people are reacting this way to Slotkin? The article doesn’t say anything about abandoning our values. She’s talking about going on offense and taking back control of our messaging. She’s not saying that D’s are woke and weak, she’s saying that’s how we come across to voters. Is she wrong?
comment in response to post
What exactly do you object to? She’s not echoing bad faith GOP messaging, she’s responding to the fact that we’re currently getting our asses kicked and she also seems to recognize what’s at stake. Are you suggesting that our current messaging strategy is working???

Thank you for sharing. I’m curious if you have a formalized program for training and onboarding your peer tutors? I’d like to build something similar at my school so let me know if you have any resources that you’d be willing to share.

The incentives are all wrong. The only thing anyone cares about are the outcomes. Thus the templates and formulaic writing. The process (nuance and deep thinking) has been deprioritized in service of the test score and the college credit.
