They don't even have to sue Trump directly since they are not making or designing the phones. Just the company that they are using for that purpose.

So, does Congress not have a role in any of this anymore? Is it even official without them approving and writing it into law? Maybe government functions have changed and I missed it.

Leaves out places like Texas and Florida which, to me, feels like it's the long game they were planning from the get go. They transport people to these Dem cities then later claim they need to "fix" a non-existent problem.

This happened twice when my dog was a pup. Being a rescue and as a puppy was already a bit defensive due to circumstances. It took a lot of training and working with her to not be reactive to every dog she saw. She still hates any kind of "surprise".

It's honestly so hard to even know what's happening because they will lie (or make up stuff) to save face. But this makes it sound like he is trying to play war through Israel so he can say that the US is not involved, even though we are apparently very much involved.

Just means they will stop going after these particular folks at their job. They will just find them outside of the farms and hotels to avoid the recent videos we have seen.

But they wouldn't even be undocumented. I would assume they would have to have a work visa. If that even matters anymore.
comment in response to post
The weird thing is I am not even sure Trump wrote that message. Wouldn't be surprised if there is overall confusion about what the actual tariffs are because they are in a constant state of change.

Then this admin will start suing states because they are not doing disaster relief in a way they find acceptable. States rights but only done the way this admin wants.
comment in response to post
The GOP/MAGA brand has quickly gone from State Rights to "One National Government". And I am pretty sure that does not include Congress, any courts, etc. Just the President's whims and delusions.

He was talking about "cleaning the forest floor". So, who will do that if they are trying to gut the Forest Service?
comment in response to post
I am sure people have their reasons for doing so. But I do not know why anyone, especially women or POC, would join this military ever at this point. They are being led by a President who lives in a completely made-up dystopian world of his creation.

Maybe I have missed something between all the variety of weird takes. But what is this obsession with WW2? Is this some kind of weird way to get around to saying countries owe us money or something?

Someone should probably ask to see the line item how they are coming up with that number. They are driving 3 hours to Los Angeles. Unless they are planning on them staying there for whatever is left of this 30 day raid. And staying at a high end hotel.
comment in response to post
The question then is how are they defining who should not be on Medicaid or Medicare. They keep spewing this line but they have no idea who it will actually impact.
comment in response to post
They are making these claims in public so when they absolutely bomb in court they can claim how rigged it all is.
comment in response to post
If any Democrats are watching this and say to themselves, "We need to jump on this and make nice with Elon," I don't even know what to say. It should be "this is why privatization of government services is bad."
comment in response to post
Honestly, they don't care about the deficit. They know they will just keep deflecting and if a dem wins they will blame them for all the increases. Sad thing is it will probably work because the general public has the memory of a goldfish.
comment in response to post
These folks are really betting that the economy is going to be gang busters for the next 10 years and nothing negative will happen....till a dem is president then blame them for the increase in the deficit

He knows without the EV credits car sales are going to take a hit. Not to mention I would guess this bill will mess with his AI company too.
comment in response to post
Who is it that Biden pardoned that's bothering him so much? He keeps using that as an example. But I'm sure it's to try and undo legislation that was passed and say it's not valid.
comment in response to post
I get the point, I guess. But every year all people do is complain these same companies are pandering to the community because they change for one month. So now getting who they truly are and complaining they are not pandering to the community. It's just a never ending anger cycle.

If they are in talks with all these countries then why do they need to send a letter to remind them of a deadline?

Pride parades happened long before all these corps decided it was a good marketing opportunity. Honestly, I would be happy with pride going back to its roots. Over the years the parade and celebration lost a good chunk of its charm from those 20 years ago.
comment in response to post
Honestly, who cares? Pride had maybe one corp sponsor when I first started going to pride events. I stopped going because it had lost its charm many years ago. Let companies make it a promotion event more than a community celebration. We survived without them before and it will be fine now.

We "were" going to see one, but because of China, we were too busy to make that happen. There is nothing they will not blame on Biden or China.

Convinced half the country not to take it and make it hard for the other half to get it if they want it, then claim nobody wants it.

"enforce the laws we like"
comment in response to post
Or businesses could just run their business and stop worrying about Trump. What do they think is going to happen? You can't tell me that Trump going after a business is somehow going to cost customers more than trying to placate whatever nonsense he brews up from one day to the next.

HBO used to have a show about it.

Anyone ask what was the agreement that China has broken? To most of us it seems like he just lowered tariffs for nothing in return.
comment in response to post
So Trump is saying he doesn't want to make textiles and the like in the US. So what factories are coming to the US? Cell phone manufacturing is not coming. Or any tech for that matter. So what's left?
comment in response to post
I think the last three Democratic presidential nominees have suggested this, and every time seem to get zero interest from the public at large and a ton of pushback from the GOP (costs too much or something).
comment in response to post
No matter how much they or he tries to say it does not matter, the stock market spooks him every time. It's his basis of how he is doing as president and the economy. Sure, there are some that take advantage but the markets are going to be Trump's Achilles heel.
comment in response to post
How is the tariff war subsiding if Trump is announcing new tariffs every other week? They are working overtime to try and convince people this bill will do the opposite of what it's going to do. Can't wait to see who they have in the pipeline to blame when none of this happens.

"we are not cutting benefits, we just decided some people shouldn't be on it."
comment in response to post
If people thought being asked to tip for every little thing was bad before, wait till this passes. Sounds like a nightmare for payroll for anyone that accepts tips. Since I would guess the majority were done via credit card or debit.
comment in response to post
And I am pretty sure the GOP budget is banking on this tariff revenue to cover the cost of tax cuts. They are kind of putting themselves into a corner considering Trump changes his mind so much.

So what happens once they get a bus to Home Depot? It sounds like they expect immigrants to voluntarily meet them there too.

Markets are taking a dive again, so it's time for the "we are close to making a lot of deals. Countries are lining up to make deals!" bs. I have yet to figure out why investors keep falling for this.
comment in response to post
This is how he operates. He will "recommend" it and make someone else decide, so he does not have to take any blame for it if it all backfires. And of course people will line up to get ready to get thrown under the bus for the enivitible "I don't know anything about it, so and so decided to do that"

Apple designs its semiconductors and outsources the work. Not sure what that would do for the supply chain as a whole. Why would Apple care about any other company or chips that are made and how they are manufactured?
comment in response to post
this goes without saying that they would still need to import a ton of parts because of who makes them. So, unless this admin plans on giving each one a reprieve from tariffs, it will still be really expensive, and that is before you get into any of the costs to make it in the US.
comment in response to post
He does this nonsense so he can, at some point, say "Tim Cook called me to make a deal, they are going to do x," even though there will be no deal and nothing will ever change from what it is today.
comment in response to post
I am sure they will. They will not move production of iPhones to the US just for US consumers. It would be cheaper for us to import a phone, not to mention that a good chunk of the components that make up the iPhone would still need to be imported.
