What upsets me the most is that some so-called parents are willing to allow their utter political stupidity ruin their child's life.

Hey #academicsky - I have this big collection of US political comics from the 90s. It's a treasure trove of cultural history, but no libraries here in Australia interested. Looking for suggestions or people who want it. Will ship it to wherever. Share, DM or reply with leads please? Thanks!

Join us at this discussion webinar on Monday! Details below. I’ll be speaking about my new book, climate change and links to ongoing epidemic injustice. #ClimateColoniality #geosky

Literacy is activism. Reading is a political act. Books are tools for liberation.

Julie's Caesar had a God complex. On 15 March 44 B.C.E, about 40 senators stabbed Caesar to death. Interesting points from history.

A short PhD advice dialogue PhD reseacher: "Can you recommend a book about the university life." Me: "Lord of the Flies." PhD researcher: "Really?" Me: "It focuses on a group of academics in a Faculty and their disastrous attempt to govern themselves."

He nails it.

Heard a song from the 80s reference a "long distance call" and it occurred to me that this is a concept that no longer holds any emotional currency whatsoever

Ever bought a designer leather bag with a logo stamped into it? Or maybe you've admired embossed patterns on belts or wallets? Over 1200 years ago, the Anglo-Saxons did the same thing—with a bit more beastly flair!

And who they didn't like

So. It has officially happened. I have been officially let go from my position at CDC. I wasn’t a probationary employee. I had stellar performance reviews every year. I’ll be ok. But please understand that many worked HARD to get into these positions and were doing great public health work.

Any recent PhD (2023 or later) aerosol scientists out there interested in studying airborne transmission of respiratory infections? My group is looking for a postdoc to work on human challenge studies with influenza virus at Emory University. Full description at drive.google.com/file/d/1HzJZ...

Opposition to presidential tyranny does NOT look like giving the finger to the Trump tower. Please take lessons from Sri Lanka 2022, South Korea 2024, and Syria 2024. Or better yet, get experts from our countries who can teach you how to democratize and civilize your nation.

Publish or perish got changed into get cited a lot or perish. And in publishing circles, only but a few get cited a lot, it is a winner takes all industry. The stakes are against all new aspiring scholars.

Loved the following piece on restaurants and food. A jovial and agreeable read for the morning. "And food should always, always, be served on plates. Not on slates. Not on garden trowels. Not on planks. On plates." www.theguardian.com/food/2025/fe...

I'm delighted to be speaking at Treadwell's Books in London on 20 March about Pagan revivals through history. www.treadwells-london.com/events-1/pag...

Saw someone here saying that a particular man is the owner of a reptilian hemi penis. I then went down a rabbit hole of learning about snake and lizard reproduction. Please clap.

Internet is a place where one without an advanced education can self teach/learn. AI or language learning models are NOT the way to do it. Read a page of Britannica. Enrol for a free online course given by a university. Don't believe the praise even "good" billionaires like Cuban gives to AI.

My least favourite kind of scholarship in the world is the kind which is focused on showing off how 'clever' the author is rather than answering the question

My seven year old daughter is like this. She wants to adopt slugs who are unloved. She's a good friend to marginalised kids in school, and she becomes happy by even seeing a tiny flower in the grass.

I (Justin) am now officially unemployed. So if you would like a guest on your podcast to talk about libraries, intellectual property, publishing, or anything related to that, feel free to DM or email librarypunkpod at gmail dot com

So O is 0 and Ø is Ø? Got it.

Ribbit! CWG reader Walter Crain sculpted this frog with leftover snow over the weekend in Falls Church, Virginia.

We see your tiny Hedge Hog (so precious) and we raise you... miniature Galileo!

Similarly, it's been hard for me to explain to my daughter when she was little that b d p q are 4 different letters.

Hey, @msnbc.com. Why do you allow your readers to share articles on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and most other major platforms — but NOT Bluesky? Asking for nearly 32 million users.

Want to tell the CSU Board of Trustees what you think of the plan to spend almost $17m on ChatGPT (& who knows what on other AI programs) so the CSU can become an AI-powered university? Check out this petition & please share! chng.it/hYYGGwbzJh
