throwback to that time @dmehro.bsky.social found the location data of people who visited Epstein's island for no reason whatsoever www.wired.com/story/jeffre...

Customs and Border Protection has swabbed the DNA of migrant children as young as 4, whose genetic data is uploaded to an FBI-run database that can track them if they commit crimes in the future. By ‪@wired.com‬:

Confidential records obtained by WIRED & @propertyofthepeople.org show the ag industry deploying moles to infiltrate activist meetings, while functionally serving as FBI informants, in a shadow campaign to brand the animal rights movement America's biggest bioterrorism threat. My latest @wired.com:

NEW: A requirement that ICE agents ensure courthouse arrests don't clash with state and local laws has been rescinded by the agency. ICE declined to explain what that means for future enforcement. W/ @dell.bsky.social www.wired.com/story/ice-qu...

NEW: ICE has quietly rescinded a policy requiring agents to ensure courthouse raids don't clash with state and local laws. WIRED detected the missing language in a superseding memo posted to ICE's website this week. by me and @dmehro.bsky.social:

ICYMI: The U.S. government has been swabbing the cheeks of migrant kids and teens — and sending their DNA to an FBI criminal database. Tens of thousands of teenagers and kids. At least one was just 4 years old. Their DNA is stored indefinitely. www.wired.com/story/cbp-dn...

German law enforcement says it knows the identity of the elusive and notably effective Russian cybercrime boss "Stern." Story with @mattburgess1.bsky.social www.wired.com/story/stern-...

This is the embodiment of racist government overreach. POGO has been concerned about this kind of biometric surveillance for years. The federal government should stop collecting migrant children's DNA immediately.

My @wired.com colleagues reporting continues to astound me. These SCOOPS were all JUST YESTERDAY: • Migrant children's DNA stored in criminal database • DOGE leader Nicole Hollander is leaving • Former DOGE staffer on how the group was run • Trump visa ban could derail US AI efforts Links below

Forgot to mention that this one has no paywall as part of our public records policy. But nevertheless subscribe to WIRED

NEW: The US government has collected DNA from over 100,000 migrant children—including a 4-year-old—and uploaded their genetic profiles into a national biometric database meant for sex offenders and violent criminals. www.wired.com/story/cbp-dn...

Just an update to the below skeet: Turns out Palantir also hands out a separate subdomains to its Government clients. Here’s a look at specifically Palantir gov subdomains: public.flourish.studio/visualisatio...

For 7 years, Akasha Song ran secret labs that produced tens of millions of doses of DMT—one of the world's most potent psychedelic substances—and made a fortune selling it on the dark web. His story, in this 13,000-word piece, is one of the wildest I've ever told: www.wired.com/story/rise-f... 🧵👇

How far have 3D-printed ghost guns come in the past 10 years? Have US gun laws caught up? @agreenberg.bsky.social recreated the exact clone of the partially 3D-printed gun that Luigi Mangione allegedly used to kill the UnitedHealthcare CEO. And making it was easier than ever. 🧵

Thread below...or for those who just want to skip to watching me nervously fire a 3D-printed gun, fine, here's the YouTube link. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQB_...

WIRED reporting by @dmehro.bsky.social, @makenakelly.bsky.social + myself cited by Arizona US Senator Gallego in a letter to OMB head Russel Vought today, calling for reinstatement of the data broker rule that CFPB just 86'd. More here: www.wired.com/story/cfpb-q...

This morning, @underwood.house.gov questioned acting CBP commissioner Pete Flores about the agency memo revoking protections for vulnerable people under CBP detention, which was first reported by @wired.com's @dmehro.bsky.social here: www.wired.com/story/cbp-re... www.youtube.com/live/NlPij-I...

Cue more exploited grandparents & exposed national security. Predatory data brokers were just handed a win. Disappointing: Americans' privacy should be a bipartisan concern. By @dell.bsky.social @dmehro.bsky.social & @zackwhittaker.com www.wired.com/story/cfpb-q... techcrunch.com/2025/05/14/w...

The Biden admin put in place policies designed to limit negative impacts of detention on pregnant women, infants, and the elderly; things like ensuring welfare checks and providing pregnant women space to sit so they don't have to stand for long periods of time. Trump just revoked those polices.

Advance Financial’s Flex Loan charges 279.5% interest, trapping thousands of borrowers in debts that end up in court, where the company has won over $200 million in judgments since 2015. By @friedmanadam5.bsky.social, w/ @tennesseelookout.com

"The crowd chants 'Don’t take the mother!' over and over again as the daughter keeps trying to get back on the hood of the car. More Worcester cops arrive, all helping the ICE agents carry out their rotten senseless work." www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

ICE Hasn't Published New Detention Data in Over Three Weeks – and It's a Problem Where is ICE's latest data on immigrant detention? Trump's supporters and detractors alike are in the dark about immigration enforcement activity. Let's hope they fix it soon. austinkocher.substack.com/p/ice-hasnt-...

Members of Congress were also there, but were not arrested. One reason why? It's literally illegal for DHS to bar any member of Congress from entering an immigration detention facility for the purposes of conducting oversight.

inbox is full of dozens of extremely angry people hurling insults and calling me "woke” because — checks notes — I wrote that CBP has rescinded a policy that requires that infants shouldn’t be fed expired formula. thats where we are at right now.

CBP says that it will follow broader standards and remain bound by the Flores agreement, which requires that children be given sanitary quarters. The Trump administration has previously argued that the agreement does not require children be allowed to sleep or wash themselves with soap.

CBP quietly revoked protections for at-risk people in custody—including pregnant women, infants, the elderly, and those with serious medical conditions—calling them “misaligned” with enforcement priorities. The rules required basics like diapers, formula, and water. www.wired.com/story/cbp-re...

DOJ internal probe found a DEA Special Agent in Charge secretly installed a personal camera with live video/audio in a DEA office—used it to spy on people without their knowledge. No criminal charges were filed. oig.justice.gov/sites/defaul...

Was one of many let go by the Dot. Got to break a ton of great stories there: the exposure of the US No Fly list, gaining early access to Truth Social & registering an account as Trump, & countless others on hacks, leaks, & misinfo. Looking for a new gig, so don't hesitate to reach out.

New from 404 Media: the Signal clone the Trump administration uses was just hacked. TeleMessage makes a modified version of Signal that archives messages for government agencies, Waltz used it. A hacker got some users' messages, group chats. Hugely significant breach www.404media.co/the-signal-c...

For weeks a Predator drone has been routinely flying around near the US-Mexico border by the Yuma Proving Grounds. Tail number is N361HK. Anyone know anything about it? Some flight data quickly thrown on a map: public.flourish.studio/visualisatio...

Found this while digging into something unrelated: Palantir — whose software powers everything from ICE to apparently Dave and Busters — gives many Foundry clients their own subdomains. A peek at 1,500 or so clients: public.flourish.studio/visualisatio...

Policy 101: when you increase the number of people you’re taking into custody but have a finite number of beds, you can: 1) release them (with ankle monitors etc); 2) increase capacity (slow and/or $); 3) overcrowding. Biden picked 1. Trump always picks 3. www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
