I saw an impressive exhibit put together by the Austrian Embassy in DC about housing in Vienna. Among the innovations were constructions that encouraged or required mingling and building community among diverse demographics.

I loved Le Bureau. And if you watch Un Village Français, you can listen to the podcast commentary by Ben Wittes and Sarah Longwell. Perfect for a time of collaborators vs resisters.

We’re now living the consequences of disruptive technologies and cannibalization. Whatever happened to “do no harm?”

I’ve got a thing about Big Tech — those guilty of green washing and quickly ceding any socially beneficial policies they might have had to corporate profit and personal greed. I heard Clayton Christensen speak about “The Innovator’s Dilemma.”

Yes, and I believe it’s also anti-competitive.

But isn’t their M.O. not to be first to market, but sit back and wait, then come up with some fancy packaging, spin, et voilà! Plus, if my memory serves me, aren’t they among the tech companies that have bought up and sat on patents?

There was one on Facebook after Sean Spicer’s famous crowd assessment after the first Trump inauguration.

Of the many things this administration has done that break my heart, this adds a disgraceful betrayal of those who put their lives and their families’ lives at risk to assist the U.S. military. Returning them to Afghanistan is condemning them to death.

Whatever happened to the party of family values? The one appalled by what Clinton-Lewinsky would teach children but ok with Access Hollywood & all Trump’s behavior ever since. Vote no!

I, too, recommend it wholeheartedly, both for what it says about yesterday and for parallels to today. Started “The Oppermanns.” Fascinated by how people (often in the same family) reacted so differently to the same threat. Thanks for your list!

Oh, he looks amazing! I met him & his wife at a Care luncheon at the University Club in DC in January 2020, and he doesn’t look a day older.

Tonight we are seeing something that we have not seen much of over the past four days which is a response protest and a city on the other side of the country this time in Baltimore. Showing solidarity with civilians now under occupation in Los Angeles. bsky.app/profile/bayn...

Now's the time to pull up a few expert explainers on domestic use of the military. For an overview, including basic history, here's Bill Banks (longtime co-author of one of the leading casebooks on US national security law). www.justsecurity.org/92568/federa...

In a polarized world driven by near-term needs and greeds (and should I mention threats?), the balancing act that leads to a healthful, sustainable future seems more precarious and slippery than ever.
