Did I confuse you? If I have to hold your hand about what Lincoln wanted, that's on you. He looked at Liberia, Haiti and other areas to rid America of slaves. He then realized that blacks could be soldiers so we had that.
He was not a fan of slavery but less of a fan of black people.

That's cool. I was a teen DJ in 1981 (16-20 club...they existed in LA) so I was more about all the genres mixing for the first time in music history. New Wave, funk, R&B, reggae, ska and some rock from 79-85 all melted together.

The Compromise of 1877 changed it all and the rights were mostly taken with Hayes. The "change" was short term lived. Jim Crow came to follow.

What Lincoln wanted to do was send the freed slaves to Africa. He was fine with the racism. Just not the union falling apart.
