"This person," is in shock after losing one of her childhood best friends at a Very young age out of the clear blue sky. Empathy is a muscle you should exercise more.

We can stay hurt, stressed, worried, angry, & helpless-- there are always reasons why, it's messy out there-- or we can start small, at home, with calm and care, and get our pets who love us, or at least tolerate us, to play.

Why this and why now? Because we are always learning and we are usually stressed.
We don't have to be, and neither do our pets. We can start changing our minds and relationships, in or outside of our species, if we relax, reward, repeat.

Did they come get it? If they did, congrats, you've started teaching your pet SO MANY THINGS.
If they didn't, why not? What is cooler than you + snacks rn?
Congrats! You just learned 1 thing that will make teaching them easier in the future. Give yourself a snack!

Look at your pet. When they look back, put 1 piece of that food by your foot, and smile at your pet. Say something like "yes", "good", or "thanks". Be calm and cheerful, like Julie Andrews or Brenden Frasier.

Take 5 pieces of their food or a "human" food they like and go somewhere in your house they're chill. Kitchen. Bedroom. Reptile room. Anywhere. Stand still, or sit. Breathe into the bottom of your lungs. Relax. This is going to be fun, or funny. Maybe both.

Welcome! Thanks for being a big part in my "why" for being a fear free dog trainer. I've spent 7 years with this skwooshy blockhead because second chances are sometimes the best thing we can offer.

Signs, to crowd-source additions to the block lists, in theory. People don't realize why "88" shows up in so much dirtbag SM interaction, for example (H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, so "heil H_____" = "88".)

I don't know if I've been on one of those until now since the book of faces started allowing under 18s and advertising. (And probably not even then, lol.)
Is there a bigger/published list of warning signs, like the "88" stuff, etc. that I can share around? Sorry, newbie question, I know.
