I'm neither a streamer nor a youtuber but I AM indie-focused games press that has been hooting and hollering about Adaca for years. Close enough?
(The Keymailer page says I'm not valid though)

It's the 6th in the series! Biggest by far - was like six years in the works.

I think there's a 7th in production now too.

You can have up to four split-screen players in any mode, I think. I don't think there's any explicit co-op mode but you can definitely work together.
There's no story mode per se, but a huge grand prix mode with a grid of hundreds of unlocks to work through, each with their own requirements.

Yep! Really good game by itself, too.

Fortnite is like twenty different games in a trenchcoat right now. There's a rhythm game in there based on Rock Band even, all the crossover characters represented. And a new Lego superhero co-op game dropped today, I think?

Same publisher, different studio.

Songs of Silence close enough?

I'm expecting it to be very rough-edged (it's up there with Peripeteia in terms of 'tiny teams with insane ambition') but goddamn, all that gameplay footage so far looks fun.

I'd say that movement speed wise it's around the same, it just feels slower because the maps and engagement ranges are realistically large. Very line-of-sight based, so if you move in the shadow of buildings you can get infantry into buildings to do tons of damage.

A little slower and more technical but it has a lot of the same feel. Small unit counts, holding capture points increases points which you use to call in reinforcements, etc.
And the campaign missions have that escalating, panicky feel so far, and I know it escalates to tac-nukes later on.

Oh dang, there's over 22,000 players online right now. And that's just the preorder head start people. Yeah, for a mid-budget RTS that's great.
Most Slitherine-published games do MUCH more humble numbers and still get tons of expansions and updates. I expect this'll still be growing in 3-4 years.

It's a good beefy solo campaign too! 18 (+1 tutorial) missions, and they seem pretty long (even the tutorial has an achievement for completing it in under 30 mins). There's bonus objectives/secrets too and multiple difficulties.
Been a while since a 'cold war gone hot' RTS has committed like that.

Most of the negative reviews on Steam are from the first day of the head start, where they didn't have skirmish Vs AI enabled, and there were a few blocker bugs in the campaign.
They've enabled skirmish and fixed most of those already and knowing Slitherine, this'll get a LOT of tuning & support.

Using the format [Words](URL). Unfortunately it only works through third-party clients like deck.blue and I don't know why.
Tried it using the basic web interface and it just doesn't work.

I've barely dipped a toe into multiplayer but it's VERY well populated even during the head start period (which ends tomorrow), and the fact that the basic format is 5v5 with restocking units means that newbies can safely find their footing.
There's a full solo/co-op mission editor too.

Because the ABG team are EXACTLY that chaotic.

Aaah, also good! Nice to have multiple sources.

Adding it to the thread because this is exactly what I was looking for - a huge list of showcases going back yeaaaaars, and showing all the games featured.
The ones that had a Steam page you can find with a quick Google.

It's all just parodies of a collective *idea* of what a dating sim is, formed from odd misinterpretations, the oddly widespread dismissal of romance as a valid game theme and, let's be totally honest here, a bit of racism

There's also a PvP Persona 3 mod as well.
And under the hood, at the root of it all is the Doom engine.

There are some really impressive community-made expansions for Ring Racers, some with multiple cups, 20+ tracks apiece. One's Crash Team Racing-themed with a hub world and everything!

Amazing how much they've changed under the hood. Split-screen, frame-delay based netcode, integrated mod launcher, etc. The fact that you can play with 16 people with barely a hitch is a miracle.

It gets weirder. There's a Phantasy Star mod - MMO lobby all - for the root fangame.
comment in response to

Ha, this one's hardly unknown. A lot of big streamers have played it.
The wild thing, though, is that this is a sequel to a mod of a 3D Sonic platformer fangame made using the Doom engine.
Just layers of weird circumstances led to its existence.

It is! Bit of a learning curve (some people tap out before even being done with the tutorial, which has a lot of mechanics to teach), but there's so much to chew on once you're past that hurdle.
And an active multiplayer scene that's server-based so you can just roll in with a bunch of friends.
comment in response to

The game also has a massive mod scene with tons of new tracks, characters, mutators and more.
Most servers run their own cocktail of community content. But I believe there's a big official update still in the works that'll be adding more cups. One of them will be Doom themed.

As an indie games nerd, I've not got much to offer the world beyond a platform, so might as well use it to try and do some good in the world!

Also if you just want Infinite Mega Men, Mega Man Maker uses the same engine as MAGMML3 but with a simplified level editor, Mario Maker style.
They've added SO much stuff since that trailer. You can make whole Mega Man Metroidvanias in it with non-linear levels, lock & key power mechanics, etc.
comment in response to
post
I'm really not joking about MAGMML3 being the size of 17 regular Mega Man games. Just the regular levels probably clock in at that number. And then there's a massive post-game segment, and multiple boss rushes, extra NG+ characters with their own stories.
There may never be another fangame like it.
comment in response to
post
The only potential down-side of MAGMML3 is that, due to its nature as an all-comers community jam, the lower-tier levels can be a bit rough. But also you can skip most of them.
If you want an 'all killer, no filler' game from the same crew, check out MAGMML: Episode Zero, which is a curated collab.

Only thing I could ask for is direct links to the Steam pages for the ones that were hosted there, but it's nothing I can't just drop into google to find almost instantly. It's a really useful asset! Thanks!

This is especially ironic as about 70% of Wii games basically had mouse control, just with a different pointer tracking method.

If you are truly that desperate to play the new game then the high seas has you covered and there are plenty of ways to do it safely if you put in a little research.
Piracy shouldn't be somehow more repugnant to you than donating to someone who wants you and your friends to die.
