Was texting with friends days ago about the Waldron sessions, and I was just able to upgrade on an ‘80s-era OJC pressing of Lush Life, which is just gorgeous. Great tip here

It’s like a bizarre co-opting of the term “zine”

I couldn't agree more—I *love* and *prefer* print. But this project and the sterile, plastic language used to promote its "launch" is a literal co-opting of the term zine in every possible way. It's absolutely confusing and incredibly weird that no person objected to any of it

There isn't a single person on staff that objected to calling this thing a "zine"? I'm not saying that Pitchfork editors should be required to have attended all ages "five dollars w/ a can of food" hardcore shows in Red Bank during the mid-90s, but maybe I am in fact saying that

“Cyberpunks” is the single most NY Post term I can imagine to describe this act of pure heroism. That is some grizzled, cigar-chomping 1980s newspaper editor pacing in roomy pleated pants energy

I recognize the fact that this photo is terrible. Always feel like a basic jerk while holding my obnoxious phone up during shows to get a pic. This is the result of that (Glad that my better half caught wind of this, a rare NYC outing for him)

“Elegantly sadistic” is IT. The atmosphere conjured over the course of that film, confined to that apartment! That opening sequence, so good

“(Boston) was the first time we played in public and didn’t have all those things thrown at us: the leather freaks, the druggies, the ‘this’ or the ‘that.’ It was the first time somebody just listened to the music, which blew our minds collectively" www.dominicumile.com/blog/velvet-...

Yikes. From what I know of this writer's work, it's usually airtight. Ugh. Thanks for calling out (and yeah, while I'm not the head that lots of folks are I think I know those Capitol Theatre shows from 1971, w/ Bird Song etc.!)
