Also, someone just died. We were grieving and taking care of each other and planning her final wishes. Didn’t really think about closing her bank account because the government was so petty about her SS benefit

I was responsible for and paid for her care in a memory care facility for the full month, $8800, plus the hospital costs of her last days, and they took back the $1000 they sent earlier in the month. It’s laughable to say people are getting rich off this system

Yep. My MIL died on the 29th of the month and they snatched her deposit for the same month back within the week, without notice
