Tiny, tiny fern alert: Moonwort (Botrychium lunaria) found in the Burren National Park — 108 counted! Even spotted a double fronder — surely luckier than a four-leaf clover 🍀🌿 #BurrenNationalPark

I was surprised to just read just that the British Plant Gall Society is on BlueSky but disappointed to read that they’re proposing to stop posting here due to lack of engagement. So if like me you’re interested in galls and just didn’t realise they were here, follow them here: @galling.bsky.social

I am starting a PhD and am looking for grassland restoration/rewilding sites in Northern Ireland! Please forward this flier to anyone who might be interested in having their land surveyed for fungi!

Early June. Most flowers out some fading going to seed (ragged robin & yellow rattle) and other species like orchids just emerging . The next 3 weeks is the peak of my early cut meadow (mid August). The late cut meadow still has flowers to emerge @plantlifeuk.bsky.social @donnarainey4.bsky.social

I took a few leaves off this single white Bugle last week,& they have started to form baby leaves. I wonder would the same method work on white Bush vetch?

The Lady's smock has delivered for the Orange-tip butterflies. Lots of caterpillars spotted today.

Despite wind & cool temperatures I managed to spot one Marsh fritillary on two different sites today. One is the first record for the site.

Intoxicating scent on my early morning walk. Hedgerows are looking & smelling wonderful.

"Seas off Cork a 'marine desert' due to overfishing of sprat, says owner of whale-watching business." Sprat, the basis of entire ecosystems, is being hoovered out to turn into fishmeal, an *insanely* wasteful process. Who or what gives them the right??? www.irishexaminer.com/news/munster...
