I don’t think this is just a US issue. I also wouldn’t only count crashes as catastrophic. Having a door ripped off mid flight or constant engine failures etc is also terrible. Luckily crashes were avoided in what I’d call “near miss” events that could have ended in catastrophe.

When people ask me for my favorite book, I tell them Speaker for the Dead. Idk if it for sure is, I like a lot of books, but damn this one is good.

Man, I really did not wanna include this one. But sometimes influence can be negative too. With the amount of deconstruction I had to go through as a young adult though means this one deserves to be on the list. Years of growing up in an ultra religious and conservative home is certainly influential

This was my daughter’s go to favorite book for me to read to her before she could read on her own and I’ll always be thankful for bond it helped to create.
