im always amazed at the early confidence and skill of others - at that age, i was an obsessive drawer - but the skill was woefully amateur - the line work is so efficient, bent like bows , full of tension - balloon animals full if energy - the forms aren’t billowy or overly repetitious - so cool

is Maurice Sendak an influence? there is a smidge of “wild things” in here I can feel it - i may be being presumptive, your work has charm all its own - i love the simplicity of palette - lets me fixate on the nice lines -

(2/2) Cappy, a refugee of one such place, has recently escaped and lived to tell the tale with the help of former-captive turned unlikely friend, Sid. Cappy, with no home to return to, joins with Sid in his quest in search for “some place like home” - together their chances were never better.

(1/2) Deep within the sunless groves of the oldest forests, hidden in valleys of blankety grasses, shrouded in mists that drift over purring brooks - grow the great colonies of the Meowcelium, home to a curious race of cat-like mushroom creatures.

(2/2) Unable to return, Sid ventures in search of a new “same as it ever was;” and in his aimless wandering he stumbles into captivity at the hands (or paws) of Cappy, a childlike and benevolent stranger, who would prove to be the best of strangers one so lonely and lost as Sid could hope to meet.

(1/2) Sid lived a solitary life in a comfortable malaise of “how it's always been” until forces beyond him destroyed his home and flung him into a dizzying, existentialist free-fall and the waiting jaws of a wild and dangerous world that swallowed up his home and whole life with it.

[ 3/3 ] Aspirationally, I will be publishing eventually completed short stories as pages/panels of a graphic novel/comic - at no particular rate, at no particular time, but publish them I will.

[ 2/3 ] I solemnly-ish vow, to always pour my joy as an artist into what I publish - so with any luck, you may too share in my joy. Here’s what to expect, sporadic behind the scenes, process, and random art of all things Sid, Cappy, their world and adventures - both canon and non.

[ 1/3 ]Okay….but literally, what is it? This will be my first attempt to publish stories as a longtime illustrator and first-time writer. This experiment will be rough, inconsistent and probably not very good (at first) BUT
