“Operation Whirlwind” What’s Happening Now? In 2025, Operation Whirlwind was launched under Interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin to investigate alleged threats against employees of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Teachers teach. We need a leaderful movement, and there are leaders all around us.

Hannah Arendt observed that the Nazis didn't lie because they believed it, or even because they expected YOU to believe it. They lied to say what would have to be true to justify what they intended to do.

We have been careful to avoid using the word coup, but it’s time to call it what it is—this is a coup. Trump signed an executive order granting only the attorney general or the president the authority to interpret laws executed by the executive branch.

when i say that there are people who care less about workers and their rights than they do the primacy of a masculinist blue collar identity politics, i am taking about people like sean o’brien

REVEALED: we identified the operator of an overtly racist X account, "GlomarResponder," as ICE Assistant Chief Counsel James Rodden, based on an overwhelming number of biographical details matched through publicly available documents, other social media activity, and courtroom observation.

Timothy Snyder is an expert of modern authoritarianism.

I hope America is as lucky as the delta jet - everyone survives but the right wing explodes

That tracks.

repeating myself a bit here but trump can issue an executive order but that doesn’t necessarily mean shit if it doesn’t have a firm statutory basis. if congress lays out in law what the duties of a particular official are, then no, the president can’t decide those duties are something else

MAGA in a nutshell: "Please only viciously hurt *other* people for giggles and kicks!!!"

URGENT: The folks at Americans for Financial Reform are looking for stories from people who’ve been helped by CFPB. Please read this call to action and share far and wide! 🚨 Let’s save CFPB 🚨 Pass it on.

If the government needs to spend more to protect the citizens from wealthy cheats and law breakers then I say spend away. AND charge them the taxes required to do so!

It will always be surreal to see Russian assets in our government.

When a judge stops the president from doing something illegal, that’s not a “threat to democracy,” that’s a check on the president’s power. That's the whole damn point.

“Be careful. When a democracy is sick, fascism comes to its bedside, but it is not to inquire about its health.” Albert Camus

Here it is Blue Woke & Caring #8 Just every day people doing their best to fight for our democracy and our freedom Please follow and share Luv ya Foxy go.bsky.app/HJe5kc1

This negotiation between the US and Russia, and cutting out Ukraine, is just like when Trump cut out Afghanistan and negotiated with Taliban. We see how that “good deal” turned out. Afghanistan was on Trump Every Trump deal fails

At some point very soon, republicans in Congress will have to choose between pleasing Trump to avoid being primaried, and helping their constituents to avoid being primaried.

DOJ leadership has put all Public Integrity Section lawyers into a room with 1 hour to decide who will dismiss Adams indictment or else all will be fired. Sending them strength to stand by their oath, which is to support the Constitution, not the president’s political agenda. 🇺🇸

Whenever TFG is in office it feels like Russia First. It wasn't a hoax, people.

🧵"So this is how liberty dies..." Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up. I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

This is your daily reminder that it's a coup.

McConnell actually said, "Why would you start a trade war with your allies?" I'm not even in the gang of eight and I know it's because TRUMP DOESN'T CONSIDER DEMOCRATIC COUNTRIES ALLIES. Moscow Mitch playing dumb?

So maybe the "deep state" was always all about saving millionaires and billionaires some money and not anything nefarious like they've always claimed.

Can someone file something in the Supreme Court to hold Trump in contempt, please?

So Vance said explicitly that they should replace the government with "our people." Wth is this blatant disregard for most Americans? 😡

Oh. Would be a shame if everyone shared this everywhere while trump and Eric Adams try to work out a deal.

The reality behind the whole 51st state thing.

Reminder to call your representatives and tell them no budget deal and no business as usual until the Musk coup has been defeated.

I see more criticism here of Democrats in Congress than I do condemnation of Republicans. And yet it is the GOP who are enabling Trump. It tells me a lot when I see you regularly bash our side but say nothing, ever, about the other. Reflect on your choices. You may be helping the fascists.

So will we hear anymore about the awful conditions in America's jails now that all Trump's accomplices are out?

My new one is up. open.substack.com/pub/sherrily...

Do I have this right? Elon Musk - the guy in charge of preventing wasteful spending - dropped $40M on a Super Bowl ad? We could permanently house 800 homeless veterans for $40M. Or provide five million meals to the hungry. Or replace lead pipes in 8,500 homes.

Just to say the quiet part out loud, the point of having unelected judges in a democracy is so that *whether* acts of state are “legitimate” can be decided by someone other than the people who are undertaking them. Vermeule knows this, of course. So does Vance.
