If a US Senator is removed and assaulted for wanting to ask questions is it no surprise that protesters are being assaulted by Trump's regime?

There's that word "they." We typically find it offensive to generalize a whole group/race/gender/orientaion of people because of some bad apples yet here we are doing it.

I don't think they should but who is empowing them to resist? Approx. 60% of those in the Army are under the age of 30 with 2/3 of them under 25. We are struggling to figure out how to resist and control Trump...how do you expect our young people in the military to figure it out?
comment in response to post
Not at all on a pedestal but disparaging the young men and women who enlisted for the right reasons is not at all who we are. They didn't all choose their Commander in Chief just like we didn't all choose him as president.

I get the Hitler synonym but let's not disparage our military by calling them Nazis.

Your words today show how traumatic your experiences were and also show how courageous you are in sharing them. Words, actions and inaction of adults can cause such damage. I worry about the behaviors, racism, and division our youngest kids are witnessing in our current climate.

Truer words have never been spoken. I kept thinking through the 2016 election that there was no way they would elect Trump because that's not who we are and then November 2024 happened and at our worst, we are worse than we can imagine!

So many dystopian novels warned us about regimes like this...those being banned in schools.

Women don't need a provider or protector. We may want and love a partner but never confuse that with need. We have the confidence, intelligence and initiative to take care of ourselves just fine. This guy is another MAGA joker whose ego is bigger than his....brain.

Wouldn't you think those Senators elected to work for us would look at the Representatives also elected to work for us and ask WTF were you thinking by passing this big, bad, offensive budget bill on to us?

You bet he has neuro damage? His decisions every day confirm it.

Yep...happens in schools every day; admins and teachers are not held accountable either. You deserved so much better. We have given up on all kids too easily and have not provided the necessary professional learning on classroom & behavior management for educators. Too many excuses, w/o solutions.

The experiences and discussions about the books and readings are as important as reading alone. Biggest issue with absenteeism is the lack of engagement in the classroom. Kids are thinkers; we don't embrace that enough. Let them talk, explore, research topics of interest...they never cease to amaze.

My heart goes out to everyone of those kids you described as feral. Imagine if they had adults in their lives who loved them enough to set expectations, read to them and taught them respect, empathy & responsibility. No kid is inherently bad but they do make bad choices. That's where adults come in.

Too much pressure over the years by focusing on "classic literature." Kids need to learn to read w/ books they love and enjoy. Riddle/joke books, comics & graphic novels, nonfiction books about snakes, puppies, race cars or monster trucks. Hook them first and let them choose the books they want.

I always explained to kids that preferences are not right or wrong, just different; that's what makes us all unique and interesting. It applies to so many things & builds empathy. Starting those conversations with toddlers could help combat bullying. So many of today's adults need those words too!

Most libraries no longer charge late fees. They never should have in the first place...it discourages people to come and scares them from coming back if they can't pay the fees. A much loved and cherished book can always be renewed!

School and Public Libraries are always free!

Teachers need to make time to read aloud to kids every single day. Parents need to read aloud to kids every single day. No compromise. A picture book, a poem, a chapter...there are many picture books appropriate for upper elementary and middle school students that can be great conversation starters.

Embrace all that your Public Libraries have to offer! It should be one of their favorite places to go!

I would agree that a percentage of that 1/3 but not the majority. We may have to agree to disagree agree but even when there are candidates I won't vote for I show up and do a write in...

Wait! Perhaps they want to also consider piece work bonuses but in this case it's per human pay. Disgusting anyway you look at it.

Jobs in one's field at the same pay are harder to come by but other businesses like restaurants and supermarkets are struggling to find help. Schools are facing a substitute teaching shortages. Might be time to try something new and different while searching for something in your field.

Agree. I'm saddened when you try any type of discourse, posters go on the attack. We grow and learn when listening to opposing viewpoints. Most here are on the left side of politics and I'm thankful for that but we all have different lived experiences and expertise to share and debate with respect.

You really believe it was her stance on Gaza that made 1/3 of eligible voters stay home? You truly, really believe that is why the monster was elected over a WOMAN of BLACK and ASIAN heritage in 2024 America?

Listen to this...it's not just LA, this type of deployment can and will happen in other cities. Pat attention, know your rights to protest but go home when they show up. Don't give the news footage they are looking for...gives them the nothing!
