Just finished my 20th book of February— Promising Young Women by @suzannescanlon.bsky.social from @dorothyproject.bsky.social As someone who used to be a “career patient” at psych hospitals, this book put an ache in my chest. 5/5 stars for sure 💗 #booksky 📚💙

Enormous congratulations to our own @giadascodellaro.bsky.social on winning the 2024 Novel Prize!

Next Wednesday join some amazing writers, publishers, and translators to celebrate the Republic of Consciousness Prize and this year's longlist. On Zoom. Link here: us02web.zoom.us/j/8636426865...

Leonora Carrington show up at Wendi Norris Gallery in San Francisco. More Carrington books coming from us—her first novel The Stone Door in June and Opus Siniestrus, a collection of her plays in August. www.kqed.org/arts/1397133...

Alright Gladman Hive. This is your last chance to help make My Lesbian Novel the PSB pick if the year! @dorothyproject.bsky.social

I think everyone who writes should read Renee Gladman's TOAF (2008/2024). And then go read a bunch of her novels. dorothyproject.com/book/to-afte...

Y'all want to make sure Gladman moves on ( @dorothyproject.bsky.social )

"DAN began as ekphrasis. My friend Dan has an uncle who owns a painting of unsurpassable wrongness...It’s recognizably a scene of small-town American life...but every element in the painting is actually unrecognizable." Just learned stuff about DAN! www.washingtonsquarereview.com/interview-wi...

Weds., 2/19 at 5:30 p.m. in Andrews House 110. "The Dreams of Sentences." A talk by Renee Gladman. Eleven years ago, artist and writer Gladman began doing a kind of writing that was in fact drawing, which soon became a practice unto itself. Join her for an experiential talk: https://buff.ly/4hbcRuJ

you know, I feel like I, personally, have not hyped Overstaying enough www.portersquarebooks.com/book/9781948...

Check out how pretty the new (i.e., forthcoming) Dorothy books look on our gallery page. Excited to share these two with you!

📚 7. THE LONG FORM by Kate Briggs. About: intimate forms of nurturance (holding, feeding, sleeping-beside). Also about: our raw experience of objects and phenomena, and our use of narrative to structure and convey this experience. Flawlessly balanced—easily my favorite novel of the 2020s to date.

‘There is a shelf labelled “plotless fiction” in the bookstore where I work. It is an object of endless fascination.’

"If queer plotless fiction had a patron saint, it might be Renee Gladman. [!!!] Her work is more or less category resistant, drawing on art, architecture, and fantasy and pressing theory onto narrative to tell stories that are as much about language as about people." 🖤 thewalrus.ca/the-new-patr...

one rule to live by is never, ever miss a @dorothyproject.bsky.social release!

Queer plotless books "speak to queer ongoingness. Awake to the ways in which queer people have long carved new models for conducting life outside of heterosexual narratives, these books are invested in the ways one flips the script on the page, imposes one’s will, creates something new." #booksky !!

read this as petty and my first instinct was THATS RIGHT, GET THEM DOROTHY, TAKE NO PRISONERS

Always excited about newness from @dorothyproject.bsky.social!

At least we'll have Dorothy books in October! Read the alt text for the cover descriptions.

We're delighted to announce our two titles for Fall 2025. Lana Lin's THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF H. LAN THAO LAM and Laura Vazquez's THE ENDLESS WEEK (trans. by Alex Niemi). Both books will be out on 10-7-25. Please visit our website for more info on these two amazing books and their authors/translator! 🦉

So excited to see Audition by Pip Adam on the longlist for the Dublin Literary Award! ✨️🥳 Yay, @pipadam.bsky.social ! dublinliteraryaward.ie/the-library/...

6th book of 2025 is Ariane Koch's wryly funny, enigmatic 'Overstaying', translated by Damion Searls. Anyone who's ever spent any time in small town Switzerland will empathise with the narrator's plight. Absorbing and, as I noted above, often really funny.

Delighted to announce that Ariane Koch's debut novel OVERSTAYING (trans. by Damion Searls) has been longlisted for the third annual Republic of Consciousness Prize, US and Canada! This is a very cool prize that celebrates "the commitment of small presses to exceptional literary merit."

Congratulations, @giadascodellaro.bsky.social! People of bluesky, if you haven't yet read Giada's SOME OF THEM WILL CARRY ME, why not start the new year in style?

Karla Kelsey considers gender, agency and freedom on both sides of the photographer’s lens.

The longlist has been selected! Congratulations to all of the authors, publishers, and translators of these marvelous books.

"Vector," I keep thinking. "Vector, vector infinity." (Renee Gladman, My Lesbian Novel)

Our warm congratulations to Bellevue Literary Press, Coffee House Press, @dorothyproject.bsky.social, Open Letter, McPherson & Company, @sandorfpassage.bsky.social, and Transit Books—all longlisted for the Republic of Consciousness Prize! www.republicofconsciousnessprize-usa.com/news
