Loved Watership Down. The Spencer Quinn books are very different. There's a lot of humor with the dog's POV. Worth a try as a fun break from the political doom we're living in.

For nonfiction, I unexpectedly loved Naomi Klein's Doppelganger. Tim Alberta's The Kingdom and the Power and the Glory was eye-opening and disturbing. Neither of these, though, will give you a break from politics.

Another great dog-centered mystery series is the Chet-and-Bernie books by Spencer Quinn. Usually I'm skeptical of books from a (non-human) animal's POV, but these are delightful enough to forgive the anthropomorphisms.

I called my representative and senators about this. For the first time, I got through (not voicemail) to all three. That worries me that people aren't calling as much. None of the people I spoke to had heard of this line in the BBB. It's very sneaky.

I'm finding myself on the same side as Laura Loomer with this nomination. What is happening?

It's like he took Baudrillard's theory of the Simulacrum as a challenge.

I agree. Trumpism is so quickly becoming normalized. We need to actively and constantly remind ourselves that it is abnormal, and to resist letting it just be "the other side."
