AI can be both ethical and innovative but we must consider those who we are trying to help. Check out the AI Rights Initiative and our thoughts as patients regarding the use of #AI. @lightcollective.bsky.social @downing.bsky.social lightcollective.org/patient-ai-r...

And when they do see it, it will be too late. America isn’t special, we can fall to authoritarian and fascist regimes if we let it. This isn’t a left or right issue. It’s a pro democracy and pro freedom issue.

They can’t imagine a world where the rule of law doesn’t protect them, where their data will be used against them even when “they have nothing to hide”. They haven’t lived in an authoritarian state that decides what happens to you based on characteristics of seeming innocuous data alone.

… #WeAreNotWaiting movement is rooted in patients wrestling access to their diabetes data from closed systems. Small-scale RCTs have shown that the original oref1 algorithm is comparable to even the most advanced commercial algorithms currently on the market, and we are STILL not waiting, and…

With every step, you're giving yourself permission to do one thing. A small thing. No step is too small. Each time you can identify what a single small next step might be. That step might feel...doable. You may do several. Great! But you don't have to. Every small step is a win!

I often ask myself… If I could have done things differently the last 8 years- what would it be? We saw what was coming and started @lightcollective.bsky.social to try to change what was happening. I think it may be too late now. ⏰

Next time you feel frustrated, open the doc *you already have started* (yay, you). Add some notes. They don't have to be sentences or pretty, and you don't have to fix typos. You can even voice dictate notes in as you think out loud. And then, next time... 👇🏼

It was so GOOD. For me it hits different as a breast cancer advocate turned ethical hacker. We started @lightcollective.bsky.social seeing what was coming. Leave The World Behind is also excellent.

Start absurdly small: 1. Open a document. 2. Tell yourself "I am NOT going to do the whole thing, but I am going to make a note” 3. Write one sentence "This doc is for notes on Project Z." 4. That's it! You're done! You started! What next? 👇🏼

If you want a pep talk, here's a blog with more tough love to help you. And yes, saving it somewhere to read later counts as a step. If you did that, high five! Then later, read it. Then...you'll know what your next step might be. You're doing it! 🙌🏼 Blog: bit.ly/4kyzYBg
