Anna Redly shares how transition from adolescence to adulthood can affect people with #ADHD differently + how the @adhd-remote-tech.bsky.social team is using smartphones and wearables to better understand what is happening 👇 #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek

Absolutely fascinating! A 2000 year old divide still felt in psychological traits! Working in the area of England that fuelled the #IndustrialRevolution , I notice typical attitudes towards emotions, life and even #attachment in my #therapy room, day in day out. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Powerful stuff from The BMJ. More of this, please "Medical journals, including The BMJ, do not retract published articles on demand. We will not retract published articles on request by an author on the basis that they contain so-called banned words" www.bmj.com/content/388/...

NEW PAPER: What do teenage girls think is causing the rise in depression & anxiety in their demographic? I was struck, during the analysis, about how often 'pressure' came up. Girls are under so much pressure to look and behave in certain ways 😔 Well done to Ola on her thoughtful leadership here

This account is for sharing info with US scientists, both extramural and intramural to NIH, about attacks on science in the US. Education is power, and we can help advocate for science and medicine together. 💪🧪 We are a team of NIH people. Please ask us questions you might have.

This is a really thoughtful long-read about smartphones, Haidt, and the need for more curiosity about the recent rise in reported MH problems By @sivav.bsky.social newrepublic.com/article/1903...

J’ai récemment répondu à des questions du journal La Croix sur les tests d’intelligence. Comme souvent, il n'en reste pas grand-chose dans l’article. Je mets donc l’intégralité de mes réponses à disposition des lecteurs:

1: Interesting paper on how anxiety-depression co-vary so much yet seem different in terms of prognosis in treatment for youth acamh.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1... They end up attributing the differences to heterogeneity, co-morbidities, and more ill-defined therapies in depression

Metformin for the Prevention of Antipsychotic-Induced Weight Gain: Guideline Development and Consensus Validation academic.oup.com/schizophreni...

"To meaningfully interpret studies on long-term antipsychotic use, it is essential to first understand the natural course of psychotic disorders." (Awais writes clearly. A wider audience, including me, can comprehend much. I'm not experienced in interpreting studies. Still a beneficial read.)

1/ Brag time. I wrote to the DSM committee for them to change text in the DSM... and they did! I've posted about the *decision* to change the text before but the new text change was just posted (see below). As a lifelong DSM nerd this is very cool. The speed with which this happened surprised me too

#medievalists #medievalsky

www.linkedin.com/posts/pierre... Happy to have contributed to this special issue (in French) about #ADHD with a focus on adolescents and adults. A number of authors from www.sftdah.fr the recently created French society for ADHD.

The symposium of the French ADHD society (#SF-TDAH) at the French National Congress of Psychiatry in Rennes is well attended. Great news for this young society created to support evidence-based practices and professional networks for #ADHD.

Yessssss! Journal editors and board members let’s do this! Folks on academic org committees! We can make the case to at the very least change the “Your Twitter handle” box on everything to something like “Your social media profile” #commsky I for one would be thrilled by “Share to Bluesky”

#SARSCoV2 virus causes a profound deceleration in basic cognitive functions due to #COVID19 This data points to a widespread, severe cognitive impairment phenomenon. It’s not just an anomaly. It’s a catastrophic deviation from typical #cognitive processing speeds. www.thelancet.com/journals/ecl...

100 abonnés de perdus sur X, mais 1000 de retrouvés sur Bluesky. Ça va continuer à parler #psychiatrie et #SantéMentale ici. Merci et bienvenue à tous!

Another fantastic piece from @lucyfoulkes.bsky.social - what do we do to increase understanding that uncomfortable emotions are not mental illness symptoms? For instance “X makes me anxious” does not always mean “I have an anxiety disorder”. www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

www.cambridge.org/core/journal... Very pleased to have this out in Psychological Medicine - our trial of the KiVa anti-bullying intervention in primary schools. Thanks to all the 29 schools, teachers, and 5000+ children in Birmingham who took part
