Read this earlier today: Self-control is strength. Calmness is mastery. You have to get to a point where your mood doesn't shift based on the insignificant actions of someone else. Don't allow others to control the direction of your life. Don't allow your emotions to overpower your intelligence.

Anyone feel like a game of catch?

TODAY WE MOBILIZED OVER 3 MILLION PEOPLE ACROSS THE NATION!!! This movement has entered the next chapter: the people will mobilize again, and again, until we make a difference. It only takes 3.5% of the population in a sustained resistance in order to make a difference. #50501movement

Just watched A Rebel with a Cause, world premiere of sincerely yours, Pauli Murray. Inspiring and encouraging. #resist

One of many things that will happen. In the meantime #resist.

What's that I feel this morning? Hope... that's what it is. I feel hope. I think we are going to rise up and meet the challenges FOTUS and his ilk have created. Let's go!!

Read and remember.

What to do? Follow the poets.

Evangelical Xns are the loudest and most visible self-identified christians. They want to impose their version of Xnty on everyone else, by force if necessary, and are motivated by narrow minded fear and rage. I don't recognize this brand of Xnty. It bares little resemblance to the historic faith.

This is why we need to filter the noise out. FOTUS is a narcissist who wants everyone talking about him. Remember how Mexico was going to build the wall and pay for it? Take away his oxygen by not posting or listening to his insanity.

My previous two posts are example of reframing so that those who would scarcely vote for a Democrat, might reconsider when the issue is framed around issues that resonate w/all Americans. We cannot continue to simply present issues, one at time, and hope people will vote for them. Reframing is key.

Poverty is a freedom issue. Poor people have less freedom than the wealthy. Here's a few examples: health care, education, housing, relocating for jobs, food, social connections, and better jobs (economically speaking). Being in poverty without being able to escape is a freedom issue.

Banks can borrow money at 1% and student loans are approx. 8%. If the govt. forgave all student loans it would boost the economy far more than the cost of the loans. This is a freedom issue. This doesn't even address the immorality of being a billionaire. Billionaires need to be taxed significantly.

Kansas is one of few states that haven't expanded Medicaid, along with Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, SCar, Tenn, Tex, Wisc, and Wyoming. This is a freedom issue because people are denied health care and those with curable diseases can't access medical care. You're not free in these states.

KS is ill served by both of its Senators. Moran consistently disappoints, Marshall is way over his head. Unfortunately KS always votes against its own self-interest but we need to roll up our sleeves, reframe the issues to speak to the common person and elect people who put Kansans as a priority.

The leader of the free world.

Pass it on. #StandWithUkraine

Something can always be done. You can make a difference. And if it doesn't matter enough for you to get involved, then stop complaining about it.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." -Margaret Mead

This is why I love Bluesky. I lean into people like this because he literally wrote the book on tyranny. This is good news. Read his second comment too.

The Dems must not move to the right. That hurts us in two ways: alienates the progressive base and it helps conservatives by validating republican issues that those in the middle can be swayed to support.

The left doesn't think strategically. We think issue by issue. We do not try to figure out what minimal change we can enact that will have effects across many issues, like the right does. We have been played like a fiddle and seem unwilling to take a close look at this.

Wonder why the right has a strategic initiative to cut taxes? Cutting taxes means there is not enough money in the budget for any of the government's social programs: homelessness, schools, environmental protection. They've played the long game. Facts alone won't help. Facts need framed in values.

"People do not necessarily vote in their self-interest. They vote their identity. They vote their values. They vote for who they identify with..it is a serious mistake to assume that people are simply always voting their self-interest." This is from an incredibly important/insight book. Title below.

The authority of government, even such as I am willing to submit to-for I will cheerfully obey those who know and can do better than I and in many things even those who neither know nor can do so well- is still an impure one:to be strictly just,it must have the sanction and consent of the governed.

When the history books are written..... somebody will have to say, "There lived a race of people, a black people... a people who had the moral courage to stand up for their rights. And thereby they injected a new meaning into the veins of history and civilization."- MLK December 5, 1955

Churches are coming together to stand up to the fascists. I am proud to be an Episcopalian. Read this if you want to feel encouraged. It isn't a bunch of legalese but actually reads like a sermon in places. Also notice this goes beyond just Christian denominations but is inter-faith.
