My next book, INTO BEING: will be published by MUP in October and I can now share the cover - it is part memoir, part teaching manual for those of you who love writing. It is one of the only books in the UK to focus on the craft of #memoir. Pre-order manchesteruniversitypress.co.uk/9781526179258/

Absolutely overwhelmed to be in the presence of the first-ever printed book to use the Cherokee syllabary, the Cherokee Constitution of 1827. At the American Antiquarian Society.

shout out to all the parent writers. to all the projects started and then withered because a kid had a cold, or fell when you were jotting an idea down, or started a bath and jumped in still dressed. for the conferences and fellowships and sub windows missed. shout out to y’all who keep coming back.

There are lots of problems with America and one is that my mom is here in the UK visiting from there and has just microwaved water for her tea

Not sure if I'm more proud of my podcast appearances or the fact that I finally remembered to update my ugly wix website

Not only did the Revolutionary Americans support inoculation (and later vaccination), they claimed inoculation to have been a proud American invention up there with Franklin's lightning rod. Putting an anti-vaxxer in charge of health and defunding scientific research is an insult to the U.S.

I really enjoyed talking about my new book on Coffee House Perspectives ☕️ 📖

Darwin's birthday is always a good excuse to share these delightful drawings by his children, some of them on the back of the manuscript of On the Origin of Species.

FINALLY watching Miss Austen (6 days after it came out, lol). Definitely need this escapism in the present moment. Thoughts from #Austen Bluesky?

New podcast episode out now: What were two Irish sisters doing in Russia during the early years of the 19C, editing the French-language memoirs of a princess who had been a confidante of Catherine II? @newbooksnetwork.bsky.social @boydellandbrewer.bsky.social newbooksnetwork.com/transnationa...

Great archival research today: the Last Will and Testament of Ann Radcliffe’s father, William Ward, from 1798.

Lock ur phone up for the day! Go work on your woke humanities projects and lesson plans!!! Gtf outa here!

It is so interesting to see which of our older episodes start suddenly trending. It is usually an insight into what is on people's minds. In Jan, this episode was up 200% over it's monthly average. Dutch teenage sisters that took on the Nazis. #WomenInHistory

I'll also just say, about podcasts: As a person who happened to be on parental leave when my long awaited book came out, it's been amazing to be able to promote it from home and fit around time with my baby. I've done 3 guest episodes about this project and they've brought me so much joy.

My sweet sister is on bluesky, spreading positivity and excellent Seattle content.

Had a nice morning recording another podcast about the Wilmots, this time for the New Books Network. Feels great to chat about their amazing lives over a morning coffee. Looking forward to sharing more recordings soon!

I do feel so disappointed in the things this government chooses to focus on (and not). No, no one wants 'AI unleashed' on the UK. This is not going to make society better, improve communities, help people retain or get jobs, or live fulfilling manageable lives. Blah.

It is such a pleasure to showcase Alexis’ superb book at #BSECS2025. It was a genuine privilege to have the chance to read this before much of the world. I would guarantee you’ll find it an engaging study of some fascinating women!

I'm so excited to have featured on the @whatshernamepod.bsky.social as a guest. Listen to hear me talking about my new book, women's travel in the 18th century and plenty of Napoleonic intrigue.

The Wilmot sisters left a unique record of middle-ranking women's literary practices. Learn more about them in Alexis Wolf's book, Transnational Women Writers in the Wilmot Coterie. Find out more in this author video blog: https://buff.ly/40nmxw3 @dralexiswolf.bsky.social @bsecs.bsky.social #18thC

Lovely to see Martha Wilmot's beautiful portrait on the cover of my book at the @bsecs.bsky.social conference this morning in Oxford. Thank you @boydellandbrewer.bsky.social and @drpastonsrus.bsky.social

Jane Austen's England is the #1 place on the @nytimes.com 50 places to go in 2025. Sadly, no mention of the brilliant @chawtonhouse.bsky.social

I don't give two shakes about FB but IG is my spiritual home (despite it's many flaws) and I'm bummed

7 January 1792: #OTD Mary Wollstonecraft's Vindication of the Rights of Women was published. This text was hugely influential and is regarded as one of the earliest works of feminist philosophy.

Where is Jane Austen Bluesky? I know a few places associated with her have accounts but I'm not seeing much from societies (yet?)

With the Christmas tree down, #MaryAnning retires for the year. Not for her the bauble box in the attic, but a return to the office file of Anningiana with the Mary Anning stamps, Mary Anning coins, Mary Anning postcards, Mary Anning tea towels, Mary Anning badges, Mary Anning fridge magnets, etc.
