Of course the universe is just hydrogen contaminated with a chunk of helium and a smidge of dirt wrapped in a massive blanket of dark matter / energy. Statistically we don't exist.

Boosting this- There’s an opportunity for a highly performing student to do a #PhD in my lab. Australian domestic or onshore international students only. Study will be in #ecology, and may involve camera or drone imagery, AI, vegetation analysis. Dm me by 1st March. And pls share! 🧪 #AI

If you see this, quote post with a beach photo from your gallery. Walkerville, Victoria. November 2024.

The After party rolls on... #lorneproteins2025

The real life blood of the conference... #lorneproteins

Poster session #1 #LorneProteins2025

Or two!

Frances Separovic presenting this year's Leach Lecture. Wonderful speech about her life in science and the need for equity and opportunity. #LorneProteins

And so we begin! 50th Lorne Protein conference (of which I've attended about half). #lorneproteins

Great science backing up important innovation in tackling methane emissions from cattle (and I assume other ruminant livestock).

Very pleased to see this paper out in PNAS! I played a minor part in the research being carried our by an excellent PhD student Piyumi in Arun Kongagurthu's lab at Monash Uni. 🧪 How surprising is your protein structure? www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

Beautiful rainbow here in Wollongong yesterday evening to smile on #coesb24!

We are recruiting up to 5 fellows in the pandemic sciences at the University of Oxford. Broad search on topics related to AI, Phylogenetics, Drivers of Pathogen Spread, and Climate & IDs. We are looking for independent fellows with exciting research proposals. my.corehr.com/pls/uoxrecru...

More structural biology goodness!

I love flights at sunset...

Research/teaching role. Come join us! Exciting workplace, nice building, great resources and wonderful team of staff and students!! Focus is biotechnology… external-careers.jobs.unsw.edu.au/cw/en/job/52...

This year I entered Lorne Proteins' T-shirt design competition (lorneproteins.org/t-shirt-desi...) and won it with a DALL-E 3 generated design of a cockatoo with protein secondary structures as feathers. Some asked if I could share it, here it is :)

Post-doctoral research position in Australia, studying thermal tolerance in Giant Kelp! Expertise in genomics, molecular biology, molecular ecology or similar required. Opportunities to dive the kelp forests a bonus. 🦑 jobs.csiro.au/job/Hobart%2...

Very pleased to see this paper I contributed to published! Understanding IL-11 signalling through structure and molecular dynamics, while also showing how an inhibitory IL-11 variant functions. Fantastic team - thanks to Mike Griffin and Riley Metcalf, the stars of the show! doi.org/10.1038/s414...

Genius. HPLCs too.

Hoping y'all can help me learn the Blue Sky ropes and also to amplify this postdoc opportunity! Come work with a great team on the meta'omics of methane production in tidal freshwater marshes at the PIE LTER! Based at MBL, but lots of fun with our group too.  tinyurl.com/ycvrkpky #HiSciSky

#HiSciSky Moving from there to here... Structural biologist with an interest in molecular structure, drug design, synthetic biology and pretty much everything else sciencey. Look forward to meeting old friends and new!
