There is no low for this presidency. The levels of cruel they seem to find everyday still surprised me despite knowing what they have done, what they are doing, and what they are proposing.

Just submitted the final report for the terminated @sparksociety.bsky.social grant. You know, the grant that funded mentorship programs for historically excluded Cognitive Science researchers. I reaching my limit. On everything.💢💢

🚨BREAKING: Federal Court permanently BLOCKS Trump executive order targeting my former law firm, Perkins Coie. Executive Order 14230, entitled “Addressing Risks from Perkins Coie LLP,” violates the First, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution and is therefore null and void

AOC responds to Trump official after he threatened to prosecute her: “Come for me. Do I look like I care?”

Our Annual Review of Sociology article on conceptualizing and measuring structural racism is now available. Get it while studying racism is still legal. @tyson-brown.bsky.social @pahoman.bsky.social (also, lots of great articles are in this volume). www.annualreviews.org/content/jour...

Welp. I guess this is what I will be reading this weekend. One of the most distressing parts of the Cass Review was Cass talked trans youth, heard the youth talk about the importance of their transition for their well being, and still recommended against social transitions.

Drawn 6 years go today. It was rejected and called unfair and alarmist.

University leaders need to understand: they are holding INCREDIBLY good cards. It is so rare in today's polarized era to have the support of 70+ percent of the public against the Trump admiministration on anything. Universities have that—AND winning legal arguments.

This looks a lot like those installment loans of the 1920s, and that’s a very bad sign. Paging @marthaolney.bsky.social, the expert on consumer debt and its relationship to the Great Depression.

They want the masses uneducated, quiet, compliant, subservient and completely dependent on the whims, wishes and demands from a narcissistic dictator.

The spreadsheet “names more than 800 firms, assigning them to one of five stark categories: “Caved to Administration” “Complying in Advance” “Other Negative Action” “Stood Up Against Administration’s Attacks” .. or “No Response.” @klasfeldreports.com www.allrisenews.com/p/skadden-st...

This is a terrifying development.

Conservative and liberal judges across the country this week ruled against President Donald Trump in at least 11 different lawsuits challenging his administration’s immigration, elections and anti-diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

College presidents are finally standing up to Trump. A letter signed by more than 400 university heads offers a sharp rebuke to the bully-in-chief.

POLITICO: It took more than 100 lawsuits and 50 restraining orders from dozens of federal judges. But after 20 days of court losses, the Trump administration capitulated, reversing a decision that threatened the legal status of thousands of foreign students www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

Find little things that make you happy during this chaotic time in the US. For me it’s D&D and listening to what it’s now considered “retro” music from 2000’s.

Harvard has sued the Trump administration in federal court over $2.2 billion funding freeze. The university accuses the White House of “punishing Harvard for protecting its constitutional rights.”

Scientists say they have discovered a never-before-seen color called “olo” by using lasers to stimulate the human eye in a way natural light can’t. It’s described as a “jaw-dropping” blue-green hue that can’t be recreated on screens.

‘Heartstopper’ has been renewed for a film instead of a fourth season.

ATTENTION I am hearing from several sources that "NIH" sent out termination notices for most or all "diversity" awards yesterday to coincide with the new Notice. If you were affected by this and are willing to share, please DM me or reach me on Signal (jeremymberg.78) 1/2

They’ll land right back on it once countries demand better standards to import. This is a classic “run fast, break things” or (whatever the quote is) dynamic. People don’t understand systems so they reform them without realizing that there was a reason things like the FDA exist

‘Conclave’ viewership increased by 283% following the passing of Pope Francis. (via Variety)

There is no bottom to this barrel.

As a PhD student at The University of Alabama, Trump's selection as commencement speaker is terrifying. This is not just about me and my fellow students--it's about supporting life-saving research and the communities I hope to serve in the mental health field. Please sign: t.co/HBdrTmZpel

@katrinamillerphd.bsky.social & I took a look at over 400 active National Science Foundation grants that got killed in the past few days. Here's our story (gift link) nyti.ms/4jp4aOx

Purported ICE agents raid a courthouse in Charlottesville in plain clothes without badges, ID or warrants, cart off two men without explanation. One of the three men was masked and the detainees were ushered into unmarked van. Video in the article. dailyprogress.com/news/local/c...

Call their bluff…stay the course and don’t negotiate (Harvard I’m talking to you, too).

YouTube turns 20.

Gov. DeWine just signed SB1, a law ending “DEI” in Ohio public higher ed. Now that it’s law, U of Toledo just killed the following BA programs: • Africana Studies • Asian Studies • Disability Studies • Middle East Studies • Philosophy • Religious Studies • Women's/Gender Studies And… • Spanish

It’s a rough week for those that watch 911 and The Last Of Us.

Governor JB Pritzker just announced that Illinois will be defunding investments in companies controlled by El Salvador to punish the country for holding American residents without due process. More of this.

This administration found an Einstein quote, misunderstood it, and made it their entire philosophy on science.

The National Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Resource Center "trained prison sexual assault auditors, tracked the results of PREA investigations, & provided resources to imprisoned sexual abuse survivors. The cuts take effect immediately." Prevention of sexual violence should be *everyone's* goal

Here we go! @kateconger.com was verified - not by Bluesky but by the NYTimes, one of the "trusted verifiers" Gonna keep saying it: a healthy digital society should distribute power!

I see it. I have lived it. 83 years ago, the U.S. government turned upon a group of its own citizens and residents and sent them to internment camps without due process. I was there among them. American fascism is back. It is here. It is now.

Zelensky wore a sweater and pants to show solidarity with his troops and he got destroyed, but Bukele showed up looking like the manager of a Staten Island nightclub and no one said a goddamn word.

The Hello Kitty Island Adventure game tries to be as realistic as possible by having their plane crash mid-flight during the first couple of minutes of gameplay.

For my birthday, I got Kylie Minogue to notice me and tell me Happy Birthday! That’s all I could ask for this day. 🤩🤩🤩

Biggest commitment to a 3 second joke I've ever seen

New now: The White House says Canada/Mexico tariffs will remain UNCHANGED -- still 25% over fentanyl concerns, with exemptions for USMCA-compliant goods. Note this is contrary to what the Treasury sec said initially, and what a WH official told me earlier. Details getting hammered out in real time.

Hundreds of thousands across the United States have joined the nationwide “Hands Off!” protest against Donald Trump today. More than 1,200 demonstrations are taking place in cities and towns across all 50 states.

There is no reason to cut funding for cancer research and Alzheimer’s research accept that he’s an evil motherfucker. This isn’t a political choice. The entirety of this “administration” is evil.
