There should be a job where I just get to sit, hype up my friends, help them with their projects and copy and stuff, and get paid for the pleasure of seeing them thrive. No buy in or credit sharing, just a professional cheerleader. 😂

So happy for Scotland. Furious my husband persuaded me to deselect Blair for Duhan. English fan sabotage messing with my weak mind 🤣 #SCOvsWAL

Gutted I deselected Penaud to be honest,

My fantasy #sixnations squad is having the best time 🤣 #IREvsFRA

I keep meaning to say that I love The Icha Library channel. I came across them on TikTok and they are everything I am looking for in bookish content. They should be celebrities. The vibes are so funny. Is a small channel so check them out. #booksky www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6NF...

My incredible PhD student has co-curated this exhibition in London. Do check it out! OutSavvy - 破链:中国女权主义行动者在伦敦 UNCHAINA: Chinese Feminist Activists in London - Thursday 6th March 2025 ( 2 other dates) at QMUL ArtsOne. Find event and ticket information here - www.outsavvy.com/event/25343/...

How many is too many? Trick question, you can never have too much open sharing! theauditorium.blog/2024/01/11/t...

A neurodivergent story:

Oh it’s so bitter sweet. #ENGvSCO😭

Me, a Welsh rugby fan vindicated in the England group chat

Seven books, Black authored, that I would preorder in the @waterstones.bsky.social sale. Shop strategically if you can. Preorders have SIGNIFICANT impacts for authors.

Old-school romance with ALL the tropes: enemies to lovers, slow burn, forced proximity, etc. Two rival authors are forced to co-write a novel merging their genres and shenanigans ensue. Hallmark/Hazlewood vibes. Cute, funny, predictable. Lovely, safe, genre-positive read. (Read via NetGally)

Good. ✊🏼

Look, Don't Touch, the next Inkling, is published today! What does the command “look, don’t touch” suggest about the (lack of) freedom to feel in society? www.404ink.com/store/p/inkl...

Had my first meeting about PhDs starting in 2026 so I am (again) flagging the free resources on my website, targeted at PhDs in the Arts and Humanities in the UK. This includes an info sheet about applying for PhDs and a PhD proposal template. hannahmarierobbins.com/blog/resourc...

Nothing more on brand than having a lovely tour with a prospective student, trapping my thumb in a fire door, and then trying to cover the blood running down my hand while we say goodbye. So tired. So dyspraxic.

The Broposal is partly a queer adult romance novel but @sonorareyes.bsky.social does A LOT in this story. Childhood bestfriends and roomates, one undocumented and the other leaving an abusive relationship, explore a marriage of convenience. It's touching, gay, angry, + very bannable. PURCHASE ASAP

Oh so fun. Book maths is Lemony Snicket x The Princess Bride + pirates. It’s whimsical, action packed, funny, goofy, fairy-talesque, and generally rompy. My first Brandon Sanderson, too, Someone should make a musical!

Going to a big research conference can feel overwhelming. This year, we are really thinking about ways to welcome familiar and new faces to #TaPRA2025 at Warwick. Do check out the info or reach out if you are feeling uncertain.

Theatre friends, TaPRA is now on Bluesky! Do circulate, follow, and share!

95. Make the Season Bright - Ashley Herring Blake. Despite “read a queer Christmas romance” being a seasonal tradition of mine, I’ve DNF’d a lot this year. However, this is a good one. Queer musicians, found family Christmas, fake dating, horse riding, skiing. Love and drama.

If you like books, you may be aware that pre-orders go a very long way. These are the eight 2025 releases that I’ve prioritised for a mixture of genres and moods.

Several scholars of color and marginalized academics have said this several times on Twitter and here, but many people remain there because that’s where their communities reside and there are huge exit costs. Not everyone has the PRIVILEGE to leave a community behind.

I'm taking the Museum of Epic Fibs to the Southbank Centre! www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whats-on/ath...

93. The Baker and the Bard - @ferncomics.bsky.social. A highlight of my 2024. Graphic novel about a baker and a bard (shock lol) who go on an adventure to find a special ingredient. So pure, wholesome, comforting, and magically queer. Book maths: Legends and Lattes meets Stardew meets Nausicaa. Joy!

My festive house bears! 🩷

One of our February highlights - fiveleavesbookshop.co.uk/events/rebel-music-a-sound-illustrated-talk-by-joe-mulhall/

92. Butter - Asako Yuzuki, trans. by Polly Barton. A mixed one for me. Didn’t hate it but didn’t love it. The food writing is incredible and I think the premise of connecting with a reclusive serial killer though recipes is compelling and interesting. While slow, the pace didn’t phase me but… 1/

On the basis that 2024 is so over, our fiction book groups in January and February are: fiveleavesbookshop.co.uk/events/january-fiction-open-book-group-my-cousin-rachel-by-daphne-du-maurier/ fiveleavesbookshop.co.uk/events/february-book-group-mammals-i-think-we-are-called-with-giselle-leeb/

Since ‘Last Christmas’ is back at number one, here’s a reminder of the time George Michael sent £15k to a Deal or No Deal contestant to pay for her fertility treatment, and gave £25k to a woman he saw crying in a café 💚🎄

91. Real Hero Shit - Kendra Wells. Super fun D&D-inspired adventure about an extravagant playboy prince who joins a party to investigate a local mystery. Very silly. Not safe for children. @ironcircuscomics.bsky.social
