@apzpins but it can be a good thing as well, I put a ceramic ball in Count-Down as an experiment and it's been an fun mix up of speed and expectations (give it a try in an EM or early SS machine one of these days).

Just ordered a full kit to install in the DDR Solo cab. Stepmania and it's offspring are all new to me, I've never played a mix more modern than Extreme!
