Literally. Let the player have to work for the story a little bit. If you didn't analyze the environment, notes, talk to NPCs, etc... to fully understand the story it's probably not a good game imo. These things can make a good story fantastic.

Y'all go watch Bring Her Back!!! What an absolutely unnerving movie. It's portrayal of grief, abuse and manipulation brought a tear to my eye. Very horrifying visuals as well. It's a thinker, can't wait to revisit it. Definitely shit you miss on a first watch I believe.
