You can't get very used to that, either. Wealthy and politically savvy people control and command governments to do things that few if any informed voters would want, like fueling conflicts at home and elsewhere. To fight them, take money and more from them, and then keep more of it away from them.

This is why you don't depend on the largesse of the wealthy. You don't wait for them to open their wallets and throw you some bones--you TAX THEM. You TAKE the money through government channels and use it for the public good.

I also think the contradictions in the system - hiring people but having raids, Trump going back and forth on sending ICE to farms - is a feature to them.
They want people to work, but legally marginalized enough to not be able to agitate for better pay, conditions, etc.
