He just dropped $280,000,000 worth of artillery in a war that’s not ours, but our grandparents have to live on Ramen noodles because America can’t afford Meals on Wheels anymore. Make it make sense.

This really isn’t a hard message. Obama neutralized the Iran nuclear program through the hard work of diplomacy, but Trump tore up the deal in his first term out of spite and chose war instead.

A Dem lawmaker and her husband were killed by a guy for their political views and it’s already out of the news.

You have more in common with the average Iranian citizen than you do with the people that run this country

They’re going to try to make you feel insane for opposing this war. They’ll ignore protests and downplay any opposition. They’ll try to strongarm you into submission. They did it with Iraq and they’ll do it again. And then a few years later they’ll pretend they were with you all along.

Just thinking that if Duck Dodgers could have remained in suspended animation just fifty more years, he could have been contemporaneous with Buck Rogers. They could have bonded over shared memories of the 20th century.  And imagine the conversations Duck could have had with Twiki!

When Teddy Roosevelt was called disloyal for criticizing Wilson’s conduct of WWI, he said “to announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

One funny aspect of Trump is that, unlike other politicians, he is not aware that this mob-boss mentality is something you should try to hide or play down for appearances. He cannot imagine that anyone else thinks differently. He cannot imagine it's *possible* to think differently.

I know there's a lot going on, but the Secretary of Homeland Security declaring that federal troops are in California and Los Angeles to "liberate" the state and city from its duly-elected leaders really is a fourteen-alarm fire.

People in media should start saying things like "Trump seems shorter than he used to" until he increases the size of his lifts, and then pause a bit, then start it again, over and over until he's walking around on stilts.

More Americans voted for Senator Alex Padilla than for 48 of the 53 red state GOP U.S. Senators combined.

It’s completely insane that US troops are illegally deployed to suppress domestic opposition and it’s not uniformly condemned by the press and political elite.

Exactly right. The assault on a senator was a crime but Noem’s “liberation” comments were actually even worse.

Maybe quit voting for their fucking bills then? Maybe quit confirming their nominees? Maybe shut down the Senate with the many procedural tools available to you? Maybe do something other than send sternly worded letters?

noem saying thery're going to "liberate" california from its leaders seconds before federal law enforcement restrains and removes one of the state's senators from the room—like what else needs to be said

It would be cool if the mainstream media pointed out that this is fucking illegal

I never shot a puppy in the face.

the fact that people were told “today you are going to an elementary school to lie to teachers and kidnap kids” and didn’t immediately tell their bosses to go fuck themselves is all you need to know about why ICE should be dismantled

This is the one to send your most MAGA relatives

I'm kind of surprised I have to say this, but freedom can't exist alongside a secret police force.

Saw Thunderbolts. Thought it was one of the better Marvel movies I've seen, but then I also thought that about The Eternals, which apparently I'm alone in liking. Anyway -- at this point, there's just no excuse not to have a Doc Sampson movie.

Notice how Ukraine didn’t bomb any hospitals, or kill any journalists or babies?

My advice: Climb every mountain! It'll take you forever, thus reducing the odds that I'll have to speak to you somewhere.

This is what happens when you give an interview while you're hungry. #TACO #BURRITO #CHURRO #SALSA #ENCHILADA (Also, #economics)

Seriously, the danger with AI isn't that it's some Brainiac style threat that will make humans redundant. It's that the people with power will deploy it even though it's shit. It's the identical problem of the owner's nephew getting a management job at the company and running it into the ground.

Curious how this post omits the words “Russia” and “Putin.”

Films are like children -- once you make one, you never want to see it again.

I've never seen it so well put before.

Hey, if the media is interested in a cover-up of a senile president who's not really in control of his White House, there's one going on right now?

In the dead of night, like thieves.

It would be very easy, newsworthy and get a lot of clicks for the national political media to make a "drumbeat" scandal out of the numerous trump pardon recipients who have committed more crimes since being pardoned. They don't do it because they like Trump

If there's anyone at the New York Times who wants to actually cover politics, there's apparently an entirely new presidential administration in power now and it sounds like they're doing some crazy shit that might actually matter, unlike whatever the fuck this is?
