I haven't listened to the Weakerthans in ages! 🙂 Time for some nostalgia.

Amazing! So much life and personality, with such bold shapes and clean lines. I'm always rounding things off or softening edges as I don't have the confidence to make such precise cuts yet, so this is a really interesting style 🙂

"Wishing you a peaceful weekend, and you're not going to get up to any trouble this time, hmmm?" (pointed look)

Any chance of anything in GMT, or even just a recording? 😁 I'm a parent, I'm barely functional by 10pm and it starts at 1am over here 😭

Oh no! 😔 Break out the wood glue, turn it into something else or deep sigh and onto the next one?

So...it turns out that there is a South Korean rapper named Jinjin. I really need to start checking these things BEFORE posting.
I got the name from the ever-magnificent www.fantasynamegenerators.com and do not mean to besmirch the good name of any rappers, South Korean or otherwise.

Good little Hitler Youth, doing exactly what their leaders want.
Somehow after all the gut punches so far, this one still hurts. That poor girl didn't deserve this, but her classmates didn't deserve to have their minds poisoned by these monsters either.

The art for this is amazing, looking forward to seeing the TTRPG! There's more life and character in this one page than the whole of some RPG books

I see you're in the pocket of BIG VERTEBRAE
I would happily vote for a cuttlefish if one stood as an MP in my local area. My current one does buggerall anyway, might as well swap them for a cool little creature that at least has a valid reason to do nothing.

I like to think that someone, somewhere, just saw this and shouted "My God! This changes everything!!" and ran out of the room.

Good luck! 🤞 Hopefully you haven't lost too much ground, it sucks when you can't get back to the gym after making progress

Amazing! You really captured the cheeky "yeah I'm out in broad daylight, might just knock over some bins right here and now, deal with it" face that urban foxes have 😂

The day I found the option to enable adult language on my phone's autocorrect was a good day 😅 imagine trying to deal with (waves hand at everything) without convenient cursing!

As a software dev, I tell juniors that no one will see your best code once it's written. It won't break at 3am during a release. It won't throw a weird error suddenly. No one will need to debug it. The users will never suspect it exists because what it does, it does flawlessly.
But you'll know. 🙂

If you find anyone who IS giving out free money on the basis of nothing but an earnest BlueSky message, could you let me know? Asking for a friend 😁

Python is also great for those repetitive odd jobs that are just complicated enough that you'd have to do it by hand. It's pretty versatile.
Downside, you'll quickly become known as the person who knows how to do the thing without it taking three hours 😅

If you define cancer as something that does nothing beneficial but is just weirdly good at taking up resources to get bigger and bigger, even to the point of destroying its host...
Maybe he identifies with cancer?

Weren't advertisers claiming they NEEDED to spy on us constantly so they can target ads at us? Given I'm pretty sure there are companies out there who know my shoe size, political affiliations, preferred pizza toppings and cute nicknames I have for my daughter, why do I see exactly the same ads?

I'm not sure if there's a moral to this story, but ever since then I've been rather attached to pangolins 🤣

Fortunately, being a quick-thinking kind of chap, he realised what had happened, quickly pushed up a new build and told the head of marketing to go outside to download it, just in time.
Also fortunately, he saw the funny side, and a few months later I was working under him as a junior dev 😁

Turns out, he'd given it to the head of marketing, who'd taken it to demo to a big potential client.
In a building with no mobile signal.
The first thing my boss knew about it was getting a call that started with "WHAT IS THIS FUCKING ANIMAL DOING ON MY SCREEN? THE DEMO IS IN TEN MINUTES!!"

I handed over the finished app and didn't think any more of it.
A while later, my future boss came to find me. He was laughing his head off.

I switched off the WiFi, confirmed that the image showed up, then turned the WiFi back on and continued working with the normal background image from the server.
We both forgot all about it, until...

Obviously, it needed a default image in case it couldn't get a signal, but we didn't have one ready. He told me to just use any old image to prove it worked, and we'd replace it later.
You may see where this is going.
I had just learned about pangolins, and so I used a picture of one.

So, I got in touch with the man who would later become my boss and explained what I wanted. He agreed, and gave me a series of things to do to prove I had the skills to be a dev.
One of them was to make a prototype iPad app which, crucially, would download a background image from the internet.

Many moons ago, I was but a lowly ServiceNow administrator who dreamed of becoming a code monkey. My dad was a programmer for most of his life and I'd been coding as a hobby since I was eleven.
One day I decided it was time to pursue my dreams because ServiceNow sucks. If you know, you know.

Agreed, Twitter is finding new and exciting ways to get even worse every day, and sooner or later everyone is going to have to leave. Capitalism is putting people in an awkward bind though, and all the blame should stay firmly where it belongs: with Elon bloody Musk 😡

@emilyjaneart.bsky.social am I right in thinking that if you delete your account without manually deleting all your art, Twitter will keep it? Just in case you change your mind, of course, and definitely not to steal it to feed the hellish maw of their AI.

"Why are you still on there?" has a nasty hint of victim blaming. Sure, some shithead billionaire tech bro just took all your hard work and set it on fire, but you can just magically just recreate years of patient work on a new platform, right? 😑

I love the vibrancy of these pieces! The pastel colours combined with the busy backgrounds make them feel both cosy and lively 🙂
