Judge Abelson of the USDC MD issued a preliminary injunction against the anti-DEI executive orders on Feb 21. His compelling opinion outlines numerous grounds for deeming the EOs unconstitutional, including 1st A freedom of speech. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

When they say "Roman salute," they mean like Nero and Caligula, right? Is that supposed to be better?

Another round of RIFs is underway as OPM continues its deep cuts, this time following the complete removal of an entire office. Details here: https://buff.ly/3Qv192k #FederalWorkforce

I started watching Zero Day last night, and I got the feeling they thought Kamala Harris would be President when they were writing and filming it, and then I felt very sad.

Unsurprising if true given RFK Jr.'s accusations/spin/"poisoning the well" about ACIP. Very concerning to think about: a) who he might appoint to fill these seats b) what the implications will be for vaccine policies Background on ACIP: www.cdc.gov/acip/about/i... 🛟 Medsky health policy 🧪 lawsky 😷

Honored to have received funding from the Fund for a Safer Future to conduct a mixed methods study of firearm thefts from automobiles in Texas and Maryland. We will be assembling a community advisory board early this summer. If you are interested in serving or nominating someone, please reach out.

What would have been tail risk events are moving into the realm of the probable. Will write more soon in a long-form piece, but it is essential that we have frank conversations. Decreases in childhood vaccination rates beyond a critical level puts ALL newborns and infants at risk. All of them.

One thing I didn't stress in this story: The FDIC is largely funded through fees and assessments on banks. So is the OCC. The CFPB is funded through the Fed. Even if you believe the efficiency/taxpayer money argument, these agencies aren't ballooning the federal budget.

Ah the 2nd Am advocates for unlawful possession of grenades & short barrel rifles. Good place we’re in. Perfect illustration of Alice Ristroph’s thesis that the good guy w a gun isn’t nec. law-abiding—it’s a naturalized, pre-political concept. scholarlycommons.law.northwestern.edu/cgi/viewcont...

William Hartung @quincyinst.bsky.social says "But upon clarification, it became clear that the plan is not to reduce the Pentagon’s top line, but to shift any savings found in one part of the department to pay for other systems and activities..." responsiblestatecraft.org/pentagon-bud...

Need some positive news this week? In the year since Michigan enacted its Extreme Risk law, courts issued 300 orders temporarily limiting gun access from people deemed to be a threat to themselves or others, allowing people in crisis the chance to seek help and preventing countless tragedies.

I'm older than a lot of folks here, but I grew up in an era when we were taught, half-heartedly, that there would not be a nuclear war because of the deterrent of Mutually Assured Destruction. They never mentioned the Doofus Exception.

Last day to request new drafts at lege council, if you're into that sort of thing. #txlege

Just a quick note to say I wish it wasn't so hard to share Bloomberg articles on here.

Gang, at this point I’m too disillusioned to expect all of you to mask always (even though you should), but for the love of GOD, please at least mask at airports and on planes when you travel to events!!!

1. Government regulators take action against illegal labor practices in a corporation. 2. Aggrieved corporate leader uses money and influence to gain control of state regulators. 3. Leader uses state power to take retribution against the regulator. This is how authoritarian regimes to operate.

I don't really understand how professors are blaming law student editors of law reviews for a bad op ed in the New York Times. Also moving to a peer review system would almost certainly favor work like Barnetts and Wurman's because right wing billionaires would fund conservative journals.

Admin law profs: do you cover U.S. v. Bean (2002) in your course for the availability of judicial review, along with the "final agency action" cases? I was reading it today and I think maybe I should, but it is not in the casebook I use.

The majority of adults support Firearm Purchaser Licensing laws regardless of gun ownership status or political party affiliation. In fact, 72% of Americans overall support FPL laws. publichealth.jhu.edu/2025/report-...

I said the pledge of allegiance this morning, in case Wurman tries to get me deported.

And just like that, all of the regulations implementing the National Environmental Policy Act are gone. Don’t know how they are going to avoid this causing massive chaos and unpredictability for anyone seeking a federal permit. ceq.doe.gov/docs/laws-re...

Still trying to finish my article on the Court's decision last term in NRA v. Vullo, and I must say the Bizarro Billionaire's current War on Civil Servants (esp the ones that devoted their lives to humanitarian work and public health) casts that case in a different light. Who is oppressing whom?
