Bradford is a total wiener on a lot of topics, but is the best Councillor in Toronto on housing. He should be getting elevated to chair the committee, not being removed. Put politics aside.

This is an absurd photo. How does a municipality allow their sidewalks to be this bad? Look how clear the road is! Even if you prioritize the road first (which you shouldn't!) why is the sidewalk still this bad? That isn't a freshly cleared road. wtf

They shouldn't do this. Put those funds towards subsidizing more rental housing that can serve a wide range of households, including family-sized units. It would likely be cheaper for the City and create a stock of homes that can be held at below-market rates for a longer period #topoli 1/3

I'm genuinely trying to understand why he's on pace for another majority. If you care about respect for taxpayers, this party ain't it. Life has become so much less affordable under this govt, and services are much worse. I'd truly like to know: What's the draw for so many?

This used to be the type of controversy that would spell the end of a government. Just absolute disrespect for taxpayers over and over again from the Ontario PCs. Why do Ontarians like these guys?

Toronto showed up tonight and put Ford and his government on notice. This is just the beginning.

It boggles my mind that some winter cities clear roads but not sidewalks. It’s an enormous middle finger to pedestrians (ESPECIALLY strollers, wheelchairs, etc.) and indicator of car-centric thinking. It doesn’t have to be like that! There are plows that can clear sidewalks! Here’s one in Ottawa.

Why are Toronto’s streetcars slow? Because we let 12 people in 12 automobiles block 200 people in one streetcar. Streetcar. Priority. Now.

In addition to stuff like this that never gets officially counted, there are over 65,000 recoorded car collisions each year in Toronto. Which means there are over 170 collisions in Toronto EVERY DAY. Check out the police data portal and filter by date: data.torontopolice.on.ca/datasets/bc4...

And remember, these numbers are for commutes for all of Toronto (so not including non-commute travel), including places that have zero safe bike lanes. If we narrow in proximity to bike lanes, it goes way up.

Why are guys like this given any airtime? He lives in a transit connected location thats easy to get Downtown from, yet complains that he HAS to work 12 hr days since the drive sucks. Maybe take the subway Raj! Or at least recognize that getting more people out of cars helps you? #topoli #biketo

The political will to address the housing crisis is missing in Ontario.

Yup. We need a fundamental change to planning in Toronto

The result of that one bike lane going in that the angry guy at the community meeting warned us about.

People ride bicycles in the winter now about as much as they did in the summer months of 2018. This has nothing to do with "mild weather" and everything to do with the safe cycling infrastructure that was built. #BikeTO #ONpoli #TOpoli schoolofcities.github.io/bike-share-t...

Imagine reading this article and still saying “nah, gotta take out those bike lanes”. Terrible people, all of them

Can’t say I love him on other topics, but Toronto would really benefit from Bradford replacing Perks as the Chair of Planning and Housing Committee. So badly need someone who actually understands what needs to be done

Feels like “Tesla catches fire, people die” happens fairly regularly. Why would anyone buy one of these at this point? And how are they allowed on the road still?

City of Toronto should be embarrassed letting this go from 80 to 26 units. Not enough people trying to get to 'yes' when it comes to housing

#topoli #onpoli Today on @spacing: The high cost of on-street parking. With bike lanes facing a mortal threat thanks to the Ford govt, the city need to confront the reality that street parking no longer belongs on arterials with rapid transit. spacing.ca/toronto/2024...

"What we see here is a contest over what informs transportation and infrastructure policy: either that irritated feeling you get when you’re stuck in traffic, or actual data-driven evidence." My first op-ed, with the wonderful @sarahelton.bsky.social!

Between Ford and Trudeau's two cheques, that's what, $8 Billion? How many units of new below-market housing would that help to subsidize? 40,000? 50,000? I think I know where my tax dollars would be better spent...

Doug Ford - never one to let facts and evidence get in the way of a decision
